Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S to acquire Mac Baren Tobacco Company A/S

This is potentially sad news. Sutliff has made so many strides to humanize the brand, public outreach and such, blends for shows and podcasts. If this all goes away, the entire hobby and industry will feel the pain.

    With Whom Would You Smoke?

Meh, I just like meeting randos at pipe shows. No need to go back in time.

What Are You Drinking? June 2024

A really good white tea, early buds, from Yunnan.

What I Dislike About Smoking a Pipe

Yeah, just try to learn from failures and let it roll off of you. Try, being the important word.

What I Dislike About Smoking a Pipe

Nothing. I smoke a pipe to not be annoyed.

Who is Going to the Capitaland Pipe Show Saturday?

If I can finish these pipes in time! Haha. I am running to the last possible minute but I guess the co-show runner has to be there.

    Breaking In A New Pipe

I would never salt a bowl. Especially so a new pipe. Just smoke it. Until a good carbon layer forms, really try to not smoke overly hot. When a carbon layer forms, still do not smoke it too hot. Load, light, enjoy.

    Blocked Kaywoodie Stem

Cutting the stinger guarantees little. I would ream the shank or trade it to someone who will appreciate the collectability.

    Blocked Kaywoodie Stem

Shine a light and see what is up. The regular fluff BJ Long cleaners usually go through no matter the era and size of hole. If it is only when you pack tobacco the airway where it meets the chamber may need a ream. Just some thoughts.

    Whats the Coolest Smoking Pipe?

It is barely discernable between pipes, mostly in our heads. The coolest smoking pipe is the one we smoke the slowest.

    Pipe Tobacco Additives.

And I work in the pipe industry, I just have a lot of friends in the tobacco side of the industry.

    Pipe Tobacco Additives.

MacBaren owns Sutliff. They acquired Sutliff because of their similar practices and a more storied history between them over the years. So yes, MacBaren and Sutliff have some very similar practices and are both very old tobacco companies.

    Tinbids Experiences?

They are solid. Mike and Alison are great people and do everything they can to make it all smooth. You have to ship with them because they are responsible for any issues. If people just shipped how they wanted they would not be able to prove any disputes.

What Foodstuffs Best Define the Place Where You Live?

Chicken spiedies and cold cheese pizza originate here.

Reach out to Sutliff. They have a 175th Anniversary booklet and Greg over there did a ton of research about this. It talks all about the shift from local Tobacconist to national brands and has almost everything you are looking for.

    The Love Of Pickles

All of them! I am known to spend twenty minutes or more in the pickle aisle of the grocery. Besides cucumber, I like everything else pickled. I buy anything I see and grow my own to pickle as well.

    Kaywoodie Campus question

Essentially you have it right. The round insert was usually an indicator of a higher end pipe, with the white clover being reserved for lower end lines. This was not, however, consistent. Flaws appearing would lower the grade but the stem may have already gotten the circle. Also, Campus pipes...

Nathan "CrashTheGrey" Davis on Radio Show of May 7, 2024

Ha! Hard to believe that thirty years ago was only the nineties. I am glad you like the Fróstika 1800, it is so strangely enjoyable and not the joke I meant it to be at first.

Nathan "CrashTheGrey" Davis on Radio Show of May 7, 2024

The Greywoodie pipes will likely be special releases, likely under Kaywoodie. I will be the only retailer until I get caught up on inventory and demand for my customers, when I can sell to others.
