I have a bag, its old and very dry, The label says "Brig Black or Block, Alamo" Whp ever wrote on the bag didn't make ut very plain. Anybody make a guess if it is an aero or Non aero?
In the coal fields of small mining towns there weren't any B&M's. But as a kid you could go up to any adult that had a cloth bag with a tag attached and ask for a charge for your cob. Bull Durham anyone?

For me back in the 40's lots of men smoked pipes. It was much easier to steal a pipe full of baccy than a cigar, plus a pipe didn't make me sick to my stomuck. Cigerettes cost 25 cents a pack, big money back then. Pipe baccy was free...
