Advice please - lightweight, short stroll smoker

You probably don't need anymore suggestions, but I'd recommend a Stanwell Featherweight! I've got a straight billiard featherweight that I absolutely love. Weighs practically nothing and smokes wonderfully.

    Looking for my next blend

Hey guys, First topic here, so forgive me if I a trip up a bit. I've only been smoking for about 6 months so I'm still quite inexperienced. I've tried about six different blends and have become very fond of Frog Morton on the Bayou. In doing some research, I've learned that FMOTB is a Balkan...

Complete beginner to smoking. A little overwhelmed.

Hey Simon, welcome to the forums! Before I picked up a pipe, I was in the same boat as you, not having smoked or drank anything. I've found it to be a wonderful hobby that I look forward to immensely. The biggest thing I found, having never lit a cigarette, was that I was a bit clumsy with...

    Tamper

Man, this is super cool! The tamps on here are always impressive. I really love the "flow" and the naturalness of the shape and the face is a cool touch!

    Charring Light, Only Sometimes

Perhaps I do not pack my tobacco tight enough, because following the first light the ribbons tend to rise a lot and stick out of the top of the bowl. So, I do tamp and find that the tobacco smokes nicely once I have that flat, charred surface.

Finally, A Break In The Weather

Oh man, I'm so excited for spring here in Upstate NY! I started smoking pipes in October, so I'm anxious to smoke in weather that is actually comfortable! Saturday we had some 50 degree weather and it was wonderful! Stay warm fellas, spring will be here soon.

Too much thinking and mucking about?

For me, having never smoked before, I read one simple method of how to pack a pipe and I was off. I think it is more rewarding, although perhaps more time consuming, to figure most things out on my own. I know I struggled for a little while, but the overall process has been more enjoyable.

    My Home for Unwanted Pipes

A Grabow was my first pipe a few months ago. It treated me well, as I had no idea what I was doing! I've aquired a a Brigham, Peterson, and Stanwell since, so I haven't even glanced at the Grabow. Now that I have a bit more experience, I must revisit!

    First and Second Smoke Ever

I understand your struggles with the first bowl. I know my first couple of bowls were challenging and probably not too pleasant. It takes a few times to begin to understand how to manage the practice of smoking a pipe. You'll find a comfortable method and things will come easier. As for...

    Steel Warrior Pipe Knife

Excuse my ignorance, but is that knife made specifically for pipe reaming, or have pipers just deemed it so? It certainly is a beaut :)

    Cleaning Brigham Filters

Hey guys, first post here! I suppose this is a silly question as I could just try it for myself, but I don't smoke often so I don't want to ruin the occasion if it doesn't work too well. Can I smoke my Brigham without the filter? Thanks :)
