***What Are You Smoking, May 2022?***

So many gorgeous pipes here, here is my humble Charatan "Perfection" loaded with nightcap, and with a glass of my favorite mix of Mediterranean wine (67 percent mavrodaphni and 33% St John Commandaria).

    Seeking Exceptional Bourbons

Try Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel proof if you have not. It is the best bourbon I have ever tasted..... (yeah yeah yeah, "Tennessee whisky" is still a bourbon, but with extra filtering). and I HATE jack..... it is also a great bang for the buck, at $60ish a bottle.... don't let that...

    Question on Changes during Cellaring.

Wow, I thought that it was bad that I had a few jars of Whitehall black tie from 2011 around..... it is is nice no bite sweet smelling smoke, but bejeezus it tastes like a bowl of jellybeans...... it hasn't changed AT ALL..... I think because its 80 % goo...... I am slowly using it to...

    Baseball & a Pipe

I was a huge Tribe fan until this. Bob Feller is rolling in his grave with this silly spectacle. I put up with the strikes, even the taking Chief Wahoo off the uniform, but the name change has caused all of baseball to (in my mind at least) to be grouped in with all the other "sportsball"...

    Difficulties choosing a pipe

Exactly this..... they may not have the look you want, but they smoke great, and are tough as nails.... I have several 15 year old cobs that run as good as they did new.

    What Was your First Pipe?

A cob..... at the time my dad smoked mixture 79 and Carter hall mixed together (I think bond street had either gotten too expensive or had been discontinued, this was early 90s) so I got. pouch of each, mixed it, and tore my tongue up! I still cannot even think about burley without my tongue...

    Question on Changes during Cellaring.

Great answers all, and thanks! My dilemma is that I have had the completely opposite situation as judcole..... I really liked presbyterian about 4-5 years ago, but have not been impressed with age on the blend.... I just don't want to pile up a bunch of tins that go meh..... I understand...

    Question on Changes during Cellaring.

Title edited for caps and subject matter. -jpm And by dumb, I mean I can probably research the site to find my answer, but am far too lazy for all of that! What is the most noticeable change you have personally found in a cellared pipe tobacco? Please list brand and age, as well as any...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Awesome! thank you so much! looks like the hallmarks say 1971, and I will contact Peterson for a new stem! As for color, it looks to have black paint down in the scallops, but that could just be grime.... some is flaking off, but I have not tried to pick it off..... I thought all Meers were...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Does anyone know what this is? I bought it off of eBay years ago as a "Peterson meerschaum" and it does seem to fit that description..... I have not smoked it yet, because I would really like to get a new stem made for it (old on has the p-lip cut off to just a hole in the end). Can any...

    Thoughts on Smoking Indoors

My pop smoked a pipe everywhere he could..... including restaurants..... he would often joke that the way to get the food out was for him to light his pipe.... I was 17 before I lived in a place without the pipe smoke smell (basic training), but he finally quit when his oncologist scared...

    Nightcap and Nicotine

I avoided nightcap for years, due to the "High nicotine" (I am very susceptible to nicotine, and don't like it). I got a tin and tried it last month, and absolutely love it, no nic hits, perfect balance, I really see what everyone raves about..... it is now one of my favorites.
