End of the year treat:
I should never have said it last week:
I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet, relaxing time off. Who knows? Maybe it'll even happen!
I'd envisioned some quality time with some quality tobacco, reading some quality books. Ha ha. Sunday night we had a blizzard. At 3:38 AM Monday, the power went out: a 2' diameter tree was uprooted and fell across the road onto a power pole, taking down the lines and shattering 2 poles by my neighbor's house. Long story short, I spent the last 2 days managing the generator and space heaters to keep the house at 50 degrees. The electric company couldn't even get equipment down our road until Tuesday morning, and we finally got power back at 10PM. It wasn't how I'd planned to spend my week off. Today we're thankful to be warm and have power again, and 2026 will bring that whole-house generator my wife has always wanted.
I wish you all a happy, healthy New Year!
