A decent Briarlee Stroller is a rarer pipe than Lees, Briarlees, and perhaps Gold Coast pipes. I have a Stroller. It's a nice pipe - I wouldn't sell it. A stroller is a real nose warmer that lives up to its name.

Hm. Why would you say it's more rare, is it a more coveted shape by collectors or just doesn't turn up as much?

Is the Stroller a "2nd" tier like regular Briarlee or did they seemingly use the top quality Briar ? Hm.

You just don’t see them as much for sale. The briar is decent, yes, and the stroller is a well made pipe. Is it second tier. Maybe. In only a few aspects. I think the Stroller is better than a standard Briarlee.

I’ve been lucky to have found Strollers in about a dozen different shapes. They’re quite sturdy little pipes. All of mine are at least partially rusticated, so the briar had flaws. But they’re perfect—as the name implies—for a stroll.

I have only three Pipes by Lee that I keep at my main residence. All three are in the top 2% of Lees in terms is quality and size. The bullmoose has exceptional grain. The one that breaks a part is an early collaboration between Lee and Lord Davenport - an has the Magic Stem with patent pending. When compared to your average Lee pipe, these three look and appear exceptional.

Those collaborations are interesting. Which of the two patent numbers are stamped on yours? The first was awarded in 1938, the second in 1941. I have 4 Lees and 5 Davenports. Three of the Davenports have Lee-style 7pt stars and the later patent; another has the ‘38 pending, and the 5th has both stamped. My Lees are all stamped with the second, but not “pending.” So if yours is Patent *Pending* that would push the earliest Lee manufacturing date back a few years from any prior guesses I’ve seen.

Wow man, that is truly beautiful! I love that shape ! Right now that is probably my #1 sought out shape. I've been able to get a few by other makers, but you don't see those much. Nice find.
