Sometimes you just need some burley flake in your life. This time it’s #2!
Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm near the finish of this bowl of year 2008 Astley’s No. 109 in a medium bend smooth dark brown 1896 W.H. Newman, Ltd. billiard with a sterling silver band and a tapered orange stem with white swirls. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Did more estate pipe cleaning.

Part way through this bowl of year 2022 Solani 633 in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Straight Grain Made in England bulldog with a diamond shape shank and black ebonite stem. This pipe came from the estate of David Cuneo. First time smoking this pipe.
Capstan Blue Flake in a small, unbranded meerschaum horn
This was another great acquisition from Pipe World in Austin. Never heard of this blend, but glad it was recommended. Absolutely fabulous. You guys been holding out on me???
So I'm smoking the unfinished Stanwell 139 again, and not wanting basically the same photos as before, I opted for a "point of view" photo instead

After another full day of ranch chores, I had to make time afterward for some C&D Eight State Burley in a Savinelli Porto Cervo 122 rusticated pot. This bowl was dedicated to my maternal grandfather, who would have turned 108 today. 9/10

Finally, back in the smoking lounge relaxing with a big ole bowl of La Brumeuse in a Radice. Dog snoring in her own chair and catching up on the news.
I'm enjoying the tin. Prior to this I smoked a tin of Chenet's Cake and Kajun Kake. Have a tin of Bayou Morning Flake open now as well. I think I put the Red Carpet ahead of Bayou Morning as RC has a bit more red Va note to it. Chenet's and Kajun seem to me to have significantly more perique which I like.
Again my wife wanted to go to the Lake of the Ozarks and once again, she drove though Starbucks and got what I wanted and her frilly coffee drink while I rambled into Stonecrest Book and Toy to buy her a book she’d like and me yet another Pearl Harbor book.
What I just love about a real old time book store is one of the young ladies there, was waiting for me! And she had another hit book for my sweetie and what she called The Ending to Pearl Harbor.

Just finished smoking year 2021 first production Watch City Simply Orange Virginia in a black sandblast medium bend Peterson POTY 4AB No. 182/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Did more estate pipe cleaning. Going to check on the ferals and get another smoke. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2012 St. James Flake in a straight smooth dark brown 1950s Comoy’s Deluxe apple military mount with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. First time smoking this pipe. Oddly enough, it's one of the very few Comoy's pipes without a model number.
I tried more than once to buy or trade David for this pipe, but he loved it too much to part with. That makes it extra special. I did tell him once that if I got it that I'd smoke Captain Black Grape in it. He suggested something that I can't repeat here, lol.
