This Monday 3/4 will be the end of Sutliff's operations.

Factory equipment will disassembled and destroyed :(

Both TP and CoJ websites will be turned off. Their phone lines disconnected.

Big thanks to all the Sutliff employees. Many memories of touring the factory in Richmond, VA for the CORPS pipe show.

Hope the staff had a farewell party. I am sure this is an emotional weekend for everyone.

Sad indeed. The McClelland closure got me stocking favorites well before this went down, so I was already in good shape. I still padded my cellar with a few boxes of Mac Baren in the last couple of months. And that was after some fortuitously-timed big buys of the same a couple of years ago “just in case.” Well…..that was the case and then some.

Same. I was already starting to stack Dark Twist, Navy Flake, and Brunello Flake so that I'd never run out. Now I'll never run out.

RIP Sutliff Match blends. Their clone of Edgeworth RR will be remembered.

That and Match Walnut will be missed.

I haven't bought Brunello Flake since I stocked up on it several years ago, but didn't someone here say that recent changes had diminished the blend?

It's very unfortunate for all those that will be out of a job, and it will be sad if they do destroy the old machinery that's been part of America's tobacco history. Hopefully, some of it can be saved for a museum and preserve some of America's history.

The thing I will miss the most is 515RC-1. It's no McClelland 5100 Red Cake, but it's the closest thing I found, and I really enjoy it. It will be a sad day when I run out of my small stash.

An awful lot of tears for a brand that's been openly reviled and ridiculed on this site alone for years. I've seen new guys here and elsewhere say they'd never buy Sutliff because of what they've read online. What did anyone imagine was going to happen to the company?
