Anybody Else Super Fascinated by Stanwell?
Black understain, cranberry/oxblood (or similar) overstain, two tone finish. Some pipes took the black stain better than others. It's a finish that CAN look amazing, but many examples online don't look great. I think the chess series may have also used that stain, or a variation of it, on the... -

Ranger Reamer & Custombilt Reamer
I just received it yesterday. Unfortunately, it's missing the rubber cone shaped washer. Works well for reaming dublins despite the lack of the washer. I'll have to stop at the hardware store soon and see if they have something that will work as a replacement washer/bushing.- PLANofMAN

Advice On Pipedia Contribution
Pipedia has had to do purges on low traffic pages before, removing pipe photos to conserve server space. If you want to contribute, adding new shapes to the various brands shape charts would be helpful, or adding other historical pipe info of value that helps people date and identify vintage... -

Shape 184. Made by GBD, Comoy, Chacom & Kaywoodie?
Also found a GBD 184 Danton pipe online from the 1920's/30's, so this shape has been in their catalog for a while. It's the only other 184 GBD I've been able to find. -

Shape 184. Made by GBD, Comoy, Chacom & Kaywoodie?
Here's the aforementioned Comoy's Blue Riband. And here is a special edition Noel pipe Chacom did in the 184 shape for a Christmas pipe. It's a nice enough looking pipe, but I don't think chunking up the stem does the pipe's shape any favors. -

Pipe Shape Subtleties........
I have one that I eventually just called a "blowfish cauldron," and yes, it looks as odd as that sounds. Haven't really found a one size fits all shape that covers it. Fancy or Freehand is kind of a boring cop out to use on something this spectacularly... something, alright.- PLANofMAN
