experience with calabash
I've had mine for over 50 years though I only smoke it occasionally. They are big and clunky, but smoke wonderfully well. I smoke mine in the living room (like all of my pipes) and have a Decatur pipe rest specifically for a calabash which makes their fragility less of a concern As to cleaning...- lraisch

Butane vs kerosene for flavor?
Lighter fluid will affect the flavor although there are things you can do to minimize it. Butane has no discernible taste in my experience.- lraisch

Lighters vs Matches
Use a soft flame lighter, not a torch. I sometimes use matches for the charring light but generally go with a Corona Old Boy.- lraisch

HTTPS error
I can't reproduce it at the moment because I clicked the "continue to site" option. Basically it said "you usually connect to this site with HTTPS" implying that was not an option and a potential vulnerability.- lraisch
