    How often do you smoke?

When the mood strikes me. However when I am restoring a pipe I am always enjoying a bowl. Cheers.

So, you want to start restoring pipes?

Some great information, having been restoring for a couple years now. Some I keep, some I passed on to friends. You can have all the greatest and best tools, but if you do not have patience you may end up ruining a good pipe.

    Salt treatment: some questions

Have used both cotton and salt. Both have worked very well. Cotton balls are much easier to work with. If you can get it, I would recommend Everclear. I know there are others who like to use a bourbon or rum to add "flavor" to the pipe. Honesty I have tried it but I did not taste it. Happy...

Chewed bit - save or toss?

I have been able to raise dents in the stem by laying a damp cloth over the stem and pressing that flat part of a knife blade over the dent. The heat transferred through the cloth will raise the dent. Greg at reborn pipes likes to use a small tea candle and utilize slow passes over the flame...

    Preferred Staining Method

I have used the black Fiebings and found out the hard way that a little goes a long way. Made a huge mess. Just received two Navigators in the mail and they are going to need a lot of work. Seller forgot to mention that one of the stems was bitten all the way through. I have recut bits but...
