    A Dremel, knock-off flap wheel bits, brown then blue compounds then Flitz are all I use now - too many rounded edges & effaced stamps even with micromesh pads.

    Yes! I have a few of those myself. But the one I’ll really chase is something called the Straw Matt by Comoy’s with a butterscotch stem.

    True. But even then the CP monogram was pretty consistent I think. So if I don’t see the expected stem & there’s no sign of the stamp … OCD. 🤷‍♂️

    No judgments here. I started the same way. But like I saw in a forum somewhere, “OK, but Preben Holm won’t be carving anything new anytime soon.” The clincher became just how enjoyable a good clean-up job is - almost as relaxing as smoking it.

    Since I took up pipes during lockdown, if I’m able to make it I’ll just take in as much as I can. I enjoy all kinds of hobby & collectors’ conventions & this’ll be a new one.

    I’ve collected & spiffed up very old baseball gloves & mitts for about eight years now. (As philthy & frustrating as estate pipes can be, I haven’t yet acquired one that’s too plagued with mold & dry rot to stay in the collection.)
