A Dremel, knock-off flap wheel bits, brown then blue compounds then Flitz are all I use now - too many rounded edges & effaced stamps even with micromesh pads.- jafo1989

No judgments here. I started the same way. But like I saw in a forum somewhere, “OK, but Preben Holm won’t be carving anything new anytime soon.” The clincher became just how enjoyable a good clean-up job is - almost as relaxing as smoking it.- jafo1989

Tobacconist in New Orleans?
Actually that may not be nearly as random as you might’ve thought. In the 19th century NOLA was a major immigration port & there was a wave of Germans in the 1840s-1850s. Most kept going up the Mississippi to settle in the Midwest (my own family’s history) but I gather plenty stayed in the NOLA...- jafo1989

Maybe keep an eye on eBay for awhile? Truckstop smash & grabbers probably have their go-to pawnshop that doesn’t ask a lot of questions. But you never know, they might get cleverer than their native intelligence and list them online. ?♂️- jafo1989
