    How to Maintain Adequate Taste.

I'm fairly certain that for the longest time, I was attempting to relight when it truly wasn't "dead". It was just providing less voluminous and noticeable smoke, and I was using that as more of a gauge then I should have been - because I wasn't in touch with the subtle stream of smoke that is...

    Zippo Fuel Lighter - Taste?

Smell only for the most part. Following those original instructions of old, and focusing on drawing the flame down from further above, does improve the results. I'm not sure they actually provide those "old" instructions with new purchases...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

New to me blend last night. Peterson 2020 POTY. There will be a similar experience tonight.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Ah, yes. This is more of what I was looking for! It started off in my absolute most favorite pipe: Peterson 2020 POTY, # 152 /400. * If any of you can point me in the direction of acquiring more of that pipe, I'd like to end up with a 7 day set. * Yeah, that sounds like I'm a collector, but...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

I just grabbed one with a Rua finish. Will have to post soon.

Any Experience with These Petersons ?

Like all other pipe things, it'll be personal, and only personal experience will tell you. And it will likely vary by your conditions: blend, ambient humidity, breeze (outside?), etc. Mostly just remember to clean the well first. If not, you'll get a reminder!

Any Experience with These Petersons ?

I love the 314's and have a 1/2 dozen of them. They work very well for the angles and clenching for me and are light. Yet somehow I can get a very good session out of it's bowl size.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I've loads of tins on my shelves to dig in and try for my first time, and yesterday I did just that. Perusing the labels I came across this one and got excited from the listing of Virginia, Burley & Perique!! Popped it open and..... it smelled like Peterson Sunset Breeze? WTH? Dug into the...

    I Bought my Dream Pipe!

Sorry, it wasn't a link, I was too lazy to get it. I thought I'd let you do it if you were going to start beaming with pride about the pipes..........:)

    Banking the Fire

I was never much of an ash dumper, more about slow compression. Even more so after preferring a "system" pipe.

    I Bought my Dream Pipe!

You should show them in the "Show off your Petersons here", thread when they arrive.

Any Experience with These Petersons ?

Perhaps, perhaps not. I'm just pointing out that some have the habit of turning over their pipe to dump ash, and that will cause problems in a system with a well. It's just a matter of learning to manage your ash in a different manner...

    Bad Tobacco ?

Quite a while back, someone (oldnewby ...?) had made up some sample packages for fairly cheap and were listed on the tobacco for sale section.. Made, I think, from his delve into the same beginners exploration process, and he had plenty to share and move along for the next persons exploration.

Any Experience with These Petersons ?

You could try the System Standard in any model you choose, and get in at about $100 to learn about Peterson systems. Very easy on the clenching. Easy to clean but you just need to train yourself to be aware of the moisture in the well and deal with it FIRST, before turning it over. That means no...

    Benchmark Blends

I can't help but think that I was partially at the "whim" of whatever blends I tried early on... Did I really love those blends that much, or was it because it was an early example of the genre? And in order to truly understand which it is, I'm still "researching" by constantly trying new...
