    A "sweet" English

I find McClelland's British Woods to have a subtly sweet, almost lemony undertone clinging to the shirttails of the latakia. Not very pronounced, but always noticeable, and I'd guess more to do with the interplay of the virginias and orientals than just the Vas alone.

    PADuation

To celebrate a) my recent graduation and b) getting the first pay cheque from my new job I mosied on over to the B&M the other day, looking to pick up a Big Ben Christopher Antique 343 that I'd been coveting for a while. At the moment I've only got one latakia pipe, so I could justify buying it...

    DFK TAD

Nice selection. As far as I know, Solani ABF doesn't have any DFK in it, but it's still a great burley blend in its own right.

    Question about Virginias and English!!!

My tuppence worth: if you're a novice and wanting to get into virginias, I'd suggest starting out with a VaPer (virginia-perique blend). As others have said, a straight VA might seem bland to an initiate palate, and they tend to put everyone, but especially beginners, in jeopardy of tongue burn...

I Hit The Pipe Mother Load (Huge Pic Hoard)

:worship: That round rack alone is gorgeous, but the pipes...I'm gobsmacked. The haul of a lifetime. My heartiest congratulations to you.

New ABC News Article on Pipe Resurgence

I thank God for hipsters re: craft beers and pipes. I reserve the right of opprobrium for everything else they get up to.

Regarding an abrupt absence of taste + Getting the most out of aromatics

Welcome to the forum, Mephisopheles (great name and avatar, by the way.) Yours is an unusual problem. Generally the issue is that the first few bowls of a new pipe taste bad, and the only solution for that is to keep smoking until the wood is seasoned. Admittedly, this doesn't apply so much to...

    Peterson Swag

Thanks chums. Anthony, I got the lighter in a local tackle shop which took some of the stock when our tobacconist's here closed down. I'm pretty sure you can buy them off the Peterson's website.

    Peterson Swag

Klause - I cogged that one from Joyce. "Isn't the sea what what Algy calls it: a grey sweet mother? The snotgreen sea. The scrotumtightening sea." - Ulysses, Episode 1 ("Telemachus")

    Tom Eltang-Mixture-A Review

Good review. Enjoyed your write-up on the English too. Suffice to say the Eltang blends are a bit underwhelming?

    Peterson Swag

As you probably know, for the average pipe-smoker in sweet snotgreen Eire, Peterson and related merch are inescapable. Not that I'm complaining.
