Favoirte Autumm Dawn Dusk Pipe Smoking Location

Awesome thread, and some very nice places to enjoy a bowl. I smoke outdoors if at all possible, regardless of the season.(It's where I prefer to be) If I'm at home I will usually sit on my covered patio. My favorite place by far though is at my small cabin/camp in the woods. It's located very...

    Justin Trudeau

I'll second that. I think you've expressed how a lot of people felt during this election, and the reason why many people do not vote. I also appreciate the opinion of anyone who's not on the "burn Harper at the stake" bandwagon. No leader is, or will be perfect, but Harper did a good job at...

Tobacco with drinks, what do you like?

My pipe smoking usually takes place shortly after I haul myself out of bed on the weekends. Here's what I've really enjoyed lately. Mac Baren Virginia No.1 with Death Wish coffee Captain Black regular or royal (or other aromatics) with Newfoundland Screech rum flavored coffee I try to dry the...

    Justin Trudeau

The experience part is what worries me the most. Not just in the political realm but in regards to life experience as well. Mr Trudeau grew up with a trust fund, and his working experience was hardly similar to that of the average Canadian citizen. I'm suspicious of how well he fully...

    Justin Trudeau

I'd first like to say how awesome it is that this discussion has been kept civil. It's the only political discussion that I've seen in the last several months that didn't degrade into a name calling contest, and that includes the political debates by candidates. Personally I'm both hopeful...

Things I wish I knew when I started

As a beginner I'll 2nd this. I seem to have better success with a pipe that isn't full. I just take out about as much tobacco as I think I might like to smoke, put it lightly in the pipe and tamp. I start with a light packing and tamp more if I'm having issues keeping it lit.

    Filtered vs. Non-Filtered pipes.

I only use filters in my Brigham pipes (which are my favorites). Personally I find the maple filter to work well without restricting draw too much. My other pipes are cobs or economy briars and I find they all smoke better without a filter. As mentioned before it boils down to preference. I...

Pipe Tobacco Roll Your Own Cigarettes

I have done this with aromatic pipe tobacco. It's very similar to smoking the small pipe tobacco cigars. I used to smoke the small captain Blacks before transitioning to the pipe, so I tried it out of curiosity one day. It works and is alright as a quick smoke. Good for places where you...

Percent of Pipe Smokers that are Hobbiest?

I'm still new to pipe smoking but I consider it a hobby for myself. One or 2 bowls a week is my current average. I don't do it for the nicotine and could give it up, if I felt the need to. However I genuinely enjoy it. I struggle with stress and anxiety, and I also have trouble sitting...

Any Big Bore Firearms Fans Out There?

petes03, you should give them a try. A little more work than smokeless but a ton of fun! Big bang, lots of fire and smoke :) . The smooth bore muskets can be used with a round ball or with a load of shot, so they are very versatile as well. If you ever decide to take the plunge and are...

Any Big Bore Firearms Fans Out There?

@ petes03 - Very similar to a Bess. It's a copy of an early British sea service musket. Navy issue aprox 1715 to 1740. Came from a little shop right here in Nova Scotia that specializes in BP replicas. They actually have provided period correct props to Disney for some big films. They are...

Any Big Bore Firearms Fans Out There?

Does this lil fella count? .76 cal, but I mostly use it as shotgun (Almost a 10 gauge) I as well am a firearms enthusiast. Spent a bit of time employed tinkering in a gun shop. I have a plethora of 12 gauge shotguns. Biggest handgun I've had was 44 mag, right now it's a 4.5" Bond Arms...
