Indeed. I have to experiment with cobs and burleys, and bowls of various sizes. Also, my palate is different depending on time of day, humidity, temperature, what I last ate, what I’m drinking, and of course, it changes with time. What could’ve been an amazing smoke, is totally lackluster the next day as variables change.

Oh, and don’t forget that aging a tobacco introduces yet another huge set of variables.
And the parameters for best smokes for blends varies a lot. Well it varies in very small parameters but still. Some blends give a little more when packed very loose and some more when packed sort of loose. And those things kind of become more natural when you smoke a blend exclusively for a week or so. Lots of little things that just make it better.

This is a solid question and one I think about often as I really dont want to deal with a wide or huge cellar in the same sense of these other folks have or do.

I could probably be happy with:

Squire Tombigbee
Boswells Premium Burley
Pease Bankside
Pease Samarra
D&S Kings Fool
C&D Speakeasy
C&D Haunted Bookshop/OJK (They both are similar and yet do different things for me so Id like to have both around in decent quantities)
C&D Black Frigate

Capn Black and a cob. I’ve done it before and I could do it again but thanx be to God this is merely hypothetical. Top ramen too, I could do that
Top ramen's a little bitey right out of the package. Cube cut it and that goes away. The chicken flavor tends to fade in the last 3rd of the bowl though... puffy

Only if you haven't smoked it. I was on the verge of trading McClelland tins to get more when it was discontinued I even bought a Castello specifically to smoke it in. Don't disparage others preferences. Makes you look bad.
I've only got to smell it once being smoked. And it's more grape incense then what I would have thought it was. Could have sold better if it was labeled as wine.

Don't get Visions of Celephaïs then, much stronger. Less badmouthing by those that hadn't smoked it wouldn't have hurt either.

Out of curiosity, for someone such as myself who is an unapologetic Captain Black enjoyer, how similar is Visions of Celephaïs to Captain Black Grape? I've never had CB Grape before since it's last production was a bit before my time in the hobby but a grape pipe tobacco sounds pretty interesting, and whenever I hear it brought up folks always talk of the mythical Grape version as if it's the Esoterica of the Captain Black lineup. I'd like to try something at least somewhat similar!

Here it is in tobacco reviews.

Edited to add;
I like the yellow natural, no additives.

Oh hey, that's been my everyday RYO blend for close to a decade! I only tried it in a pipe once and wasn't a big fan, but that was a long while ago and my tastes have changed a fair bit since then so I should probably give it another go. puffy
