What's Pipe Weed?

Saw this a while ago and thought how is this video not up here.

In the exclusive preface of The Fellowship of the Ring devoted to pipe-weed, it is specified that it belongs to the genus Nicotiana —at least in the Spanish edition I own. For me, it was always simply tobacco.

I agree that it was pretty explicit that pipe weed was either tobacco or essentially tobacco. Though there were several things in the video that were pretty interesting to me. Including the fact that Tolkien stated that pipe weed was in essence a symbol of those little things that make life good. Love to see someone else have a similar out look on tobacco as me and to do so very publicly.
Also while it's pretty clear that pipe weed was tobacco, there is still a difference between it being so because clearly it is, and it being so because the author has stated that it is indeed.
Glad to introduce this video which I am surprised I didn't find here. (I think it was watching videos from here on youtube that landed this one in my suggestions.

Now I will always see Bilbo as a smiling reindeer that does Santa cosplay. Seriously though the two books I can see besides the Tolkien ones are also great books. Huxley wrote what might be my favorite book, Point Counter Point.

That was good, seen it before, he has good stuff for fantasy nerds on his channel…. So it grew wild all over the place around men and none of them smoked it? weird.
