Hello friends,

When trying to remove the stem of my MM Country Gentleman, I accidentally removed the shank also. I rammed it in with force and gave firm taps on the table (felt like a caveman learning how to use a gavel —not the shrewdest judge out there).

It seems like it fits like as before, but I am curious about what I did wrong and how to prevent.

I know it's a corncob but there is sentimental value attached to this one, so I can't toss it out and buy another.

Thanks,

Nothing major it happens with cobs. I've done the same a few times with cobs, getting in a hurry to clean the stem, getting a little rough knocking dottle out, nothing to worry about its easily fixed. Like has already been said a little Elmer's and drying time and you're good to go.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I used a dab of clear gorilla glue to fix it up. I made sure to only apply glue where it would bond to the bowl. Didn't want to get glue where it would be exposed to flame as I puff.

Thank you all. Hope I didn't damage the cob when ramming the shank in.

Will definitely use Elmer's glue.

Using the slide hammer to get it apart was OK, but I'd step down from the 3 lb. sledge to a 8 oz. ball peen hammer when working on slamming a shank back into the stummel. Just need the right tools.

It's also pretty surprising that nobody has come along to yell "Throw it away!"

But, think of all the starving pipe smokers around the world that don’t have so much as a cob or a bag of Buoy Gold.

(Channeling my mother at the dinner table when I didn’t finish my plate as a kid 😆)

Yes, if it was a meer.

Cobs ain't worth cutting up since MM started in the dope business.
I know how dare they read the market and cater to keeping their doors open. I know I'd rather have them stick to their guns and be a relic of the past, then to have them change their mind and say hey if people are going to use our product how they see fit might as well go with it.
I mean how can you trust a company or person that changes their mind when situations change. It's like that time that one friend said he'd always love Julia and they got married and she got mean and fat. Why would he change his mind he should have always treated her the same the whole time.

I always said that I was showing those kids solidarity. And that me stuffing myself would just be salt in their wounds.
Of course that didn't go over well, even if they had to admit I had a point.

I was just joking, by the way.

I don't give a shit what they do.

I have no brand loyalty to take back anyway... I only buy stuff because it works well for me.
