Having owned 7 vintage Novas, I have always read that saying about them

I love Novas. When l left my hometown about 40 years ago, a local guy had a very nice, green, Yenko Nova. I think it was a ‘69. It was a beautiful thing. When I was up visiting family a few years ago I drove by the guys place and his Yenko was parked in the side yard in the weeds. The paint was faded, the rocker panels were rusted out. What a shame. It almost brought a tear to my eye.

For example, in the Canary Islands, the bus is called a (guagua). It is said to "originate" from Cuba. But it actually came from the US, as a wagon. Everything is on wikicoco. 😬 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Yeah, but I hear you'd never say "I'm waiting for the guagua" in Colombia where guagua means baby. 😲

I had a green 69 base model, to this day I have wanted another green one. Medium olive with metallic, beautiful

No, is not true .

The longer Spanish has been spoken in a place, the more regional expressions it will develop. For example, Mexican Spanish is older than American English.
But this absolutely does not mean that two Spanish speakers cannot understand each other. That is 100% false.

I just meant they have unique things like slang that is very regional. And it's not just between different nations. I didn't intend to say it was that extreme of an effect that people wouldn't understand each other. Just that there are quirks.
Sorry it came across like that. I probably wasn't paying enough attention to the conversation and my response.

I was having dinner with a Puerto Rican friend in a Mexican restaurant in NYC. The menu wasn’t in English. “I know this says shrimp,” I asked her, “but what’s the rest of it?” “I have no idea”, she replied “It’s written in Mexican”.

The Chevy Nova is a legend in Argentina.
Its called Coupe Chevy
There is still a racing category where the Chevy Nova, the Ford Falcon, the Dodge Polara, and the IKA Torino all compete.
The Chevy and the Falcon are the most popular ones.
You can see Novas on a daily basis here.

The falcons are cars that brings bad deja vus in Argentina. No one wants to remenber the Videla days with the "paseitos" in pastel colored falcons.

Actually, no. The infamous reputation they had during the dictatorship didn't diminish the affection people have for the Ford Falcon in Argentina. It's a cultural thing; it's the car of many parents and grandparents, and it evokes childhood memories. Oh, and nobody calls kidnappings "paseitos," they were called "chupadas" (a slang term for abduction), like "a Juan lo chuparon." And those Falcons weren't pastel-colored; they were military green.

I got in a little bit of trouble once for using the Mexican "guey" at a European Spanish person.

Not sure exactly how one dialect's "dude" becomes another dialect's "cuckold" but I can tell you it makes for an awkward dinner.
Guey or wey means Dude. In Spain the word used is Tio, literally uncle.
Probably they understand you say Buey, that's meas OX. Anything with horns can mean cuckold.
