Personally I recommend buying more directors cut before the price goes up.
Try some dark moor. It’s pretty good.
Louisiana broken flake and Makhuwa are fantastic.

I will say, smoking a bowl of 2022 Director's Cut right now I'm not noticing nearly as much perique as I remembered, the kentucky is much more pronounced now. If you asked me to describe it I would not classify the current blend as a vaper.

It isn't a VaPer. It's a VaKY with perique as an accent.
Sometimes. But blends do change, and many HU did, making old reviews irrelevant.
Dark fired was subbed in for Perique in 2018 without telling Hans about it.
They cut back on the sub but didn’t restore the Perique.
Years ago, Director’s Cut was no more expensive than any other HU blend. With the high mark up, increased production costs are not really a factor. You pay more because you are not offered a choice if you want to smoke Director’s Cut.
Interesting observations all, could be production, et al. I recently finished a tin of Directors cut, and it was a treat. Not sure of previous versions, but the one I completed was enjoyable. I have no problem with the price point.
Here’s the answer you’re looking for: the tobacco is custom produced for Kopp Tobaccos in Germany by STG in Assens, Denmark. STG has massively upped their prices (on a scale never seen before)
