Yeah, there are two new threads about movies. Very different time periods.
While posters and links are helpful in many cases, in these threads I think they can get in the way. Putting in availability is appreciated, however.

3 favorites that come to mind right away that many people probably haven't seen...all with great scripts, casting and direction:

Edge of Darkness: maybe my favorite Mel Gibson movie...intense, realistic thriller.

After Dark My Sweet: film noir...Jason Patric, Rachel Ward and Bruce Dern are fantastic in this.

Maps to the Stars: definitely my favorite Cronenberg film...original, incomparable...part psychological thriller, part ghost story, part dark comedy...an exploration of end-stage malignant narcissism.

Some of my favorite war movies, 2 from WW2 and 1 from WWI, that aren’t often talked about. All in full on YouTube here.

Come And See is definitely one everyone should see.

Another war movie that’s not too well-known but worth it is The Victors. I saw it for the first time last year, and that firing squad scene is not one I’ll forget anytime soon.

Gus Van Sant's movie Elephant (2003). Inspired by the Columbine school shooting. Free on YouTube if anyone is interested.

The Wicker Man from 1976 and Suspiria from 1977.

I’ll have to check out Map of the Stars, for some reason I never got around to it. Well I haven’t seen his new remake of “Crimes of the Future” either, and after watching “Rabid” last night, those are the only two Cronenberg films I haven’t seen. I think my favorite would have to be “The Brood”

Wong Kar-wai movies. "In the Mood for Love" will make you want to be young again.

Akira Kurosawa movie with Toshiro Mifune starting. All of them.

"Patton"

"The Longest day"

"Starman" Tear jerker from hell.

Porky's, all of them, only if you want to experience 80s idea of bad taste in comedy.

More to follow...
