There's some mileage in the idea of getting a full check up, bloods etc. I can trace my current bout of sepsis/illness to midsummer, when my palate changed and I struggled to taste the sweetness in my favourites. Do not ignore early warnings; the flavours and scents of pipe tobacco are an excellent bellweather.
