Oh man, that is a classic. No one could hit those notes like Randy Meisner did. Although Timothy B. Schmidt does a pretty good job with it.
It speaks volumes about you that you have worked and accomplished what you have. I have great respect for anyone who can do what you have done. "Well done thy good and faithful servant."
Thank you for the kind words.

Thanks! This pipe jumped off the screen calling my name and found its way to my mail box. Spider bites are no joke. That’s for sure. But, your description is accurate. It’s a hassle. It’s not a crises. Soldier on……
My dad's 1st cousin was a tail gunner in a B-17 in WWII. His plane was shot down over German controlled territory and he was a POW for the better part of a year. Years later, when back home, a black widow bit him in the calf of the leg. I was told that a huge chunk of his calf just rotted and fell off. He said it was the most painful thing he had ever endured. This coming from a man who had been in one of Hitler's death camps.........
Kinda puts it all in perspective.

I’m still experimenting with a new (to me) tobacco: Wessex Red Virginia Flake. I cube-cut a bowl full and then the weather in Anchorage turned cold. We’ve had single digit temperatures for a few days so my 1950s Kaywoodie sat in the pipe rack loaded with a cork stopper. Today it ā€œwarmed upā€ into the 20s so I took my trusty mutt out for a walk. The dried tobacco lasted longer than I expected, but I can’t really say it tasted any different than when I’ve rubbed it out and smoked it less dry.

I came across a small patch of the local lake that has not yet frozen and saw a couple hundred Mallards milling around. It’s quite a sight but my alleged bird dog was more interested in squirrel up a tree.

The Pub pipe does require a bit more maintenance but when you pack it right ... wow. I think it may be the better working man's pipe because you can smoke it and set it down and come back to it and relight and its just a good. Dry, cool, smooth. When it gets down 1/2 way just tamp and dump the ash and repeat. It doesn't need to be smoked all at once but can last for many hours throughout the day. Maybe that's what Charles Peterson wanted all along ...

LJ Peretti No. 8 Slices in a Larry Roush pot. I love everything about this pipe: the perfect engineering, the shape with the slight curve to the shank and stem, the stain, the metalwork, the color of the stem, the hand-feel, you name it. A pot of Harneys Scottish Morning on the side.
