I am very new to pipe smoking and have found that I can't smoke a whole pipe (yet). Also i have tried to fill less tobacco in my pipe but i am still not very good at it (still following instructions that all describe how to fill whole pipes)

My question is, how you save your pipe for next time. I have found that it is still ok to smoke on a smoked pipe after an hour or two. The way i do it now, is that i just put my pipe back into the pouch as it is. Some times i will gently tramp the top before i do it, just to mash the ashes flat. Other times i mash the ashes, and turn it upside down to get rid of the loose ashes, while retaining the chared tobacco.

The real question though, is if it is safe to put the pipe into the pouch, while there is still a burning cherry inside? It seems to have worked ok until now, but i'd rather not burn down the house with this...

I know that smoking a pipe takes time, but I often have to do something else right when I am smoking, so i don't always have time to let it go out, and even then, i am not quite sure when it is out. I smoke outside and take it with me inside when i am done

No. You can easily put the pipe out by cutting air off to the ember. Covering the end of the bit and the bowl of the pipe. I recommend dumping out the loose ash too. And when you go to light up again, exhale some of your breath into the bowl to wet it a bit (if that makes any sense). That’s optional though.

All you really need to achieve is a little bit of resistance on the draw. This applies to filling a pipe fully or partially. You could get decent results gravity filling and just tamping it all down until you get resistance on the draw.

I rarely have time for a full bowl these days, but when i have to stop, I just cover the bowl with my thumb untill its out. Only takes a little bit.

That's something that fits in the catagory of that won't happen but if it does it could be a huge issue. I'd say just set it on a stand or make sure it's out. If I have to stop a bowl for a minute and make sure the ember is out I cover both the bowl hole and the hole on the stem for a few moments. It essential smoothers the ember pretty quickly. I've never had an issue with fire but singing a pocket or something in the pocket has happened if I don't do that.

I would never put a still burning bowl into a pouch. Give it a few mins, it will burn out easily. Tamp the ash, or knock it out so it won’t get in your pouch. Then perhaps store it.

Personally I smoke about 3-5 mins at a time, put my pipe down (outside) come back to it numerous times through out the day. I never tried putting it a pouch while it had burnt tobacco in it.

The main issue here is the weather. I'd leave it outside but I live in the very North of Europe and the weather is terrible most of the time.
