Bummer to hear about bad construction on such a HTF (and pricey!) stick. I have had that exact experience with poor construction on about half of the Casdagli sticks I've had, but never a problem with the Don Arturos.
Which Casdagli did that one remind you of? I love me some Don Arturos and buy them up every chance I get - it's essentially an Opus with a Habano vs Corojo wrapper (still from Fuente's farm).
Yeah, good news is that flavors maintained through the shitty burn. And my local sells Fuente at retail so I'm pretty sure this was under $20. Still, that's a lot of money ... and a lot of work
I smoked through 5 each Casdagli Cabinet Rosetta, Rosetta Maduro, and Romano, as well as 5 Basilica C#3. Aside from a general similarity that is probably "high end Dominican Cigar," I thought there were distinct similarities to the C#3
Interesting you had burn issues with Casdagli. I did too, to the point that I'm done with the brand, at least for now. I mentioned this to Katman a few months ago- he said same thing
I thought maybe they needed to be wetter, so I put a few in a 68°F 69RH box for a couple months. This moved the needle, but nowhere near enough.
Here's a $4 Hot Cake that burned like a champ, outside in the wind
