I will be careful next time i ask a question. I didn't want everyone getting at each others throats. I know people are passionate about things but i feel this spilled over a bit too much. I have a Irish Friend in Rathcoole on the outskirts of Belfast who i have visited a good few times. I have told some Irish Jokes over there and they laugh and are never offended. I will say they have plenty of Jokes about the English let me tell you. I am beginning to see whatever Pipe you get there are always going to be lovers and haters, like most things in life.

Sadly can't be helped. There is always going to be someone that can't keep the occasionally opinion to themselves or express that opinion with some tact. For example they seem incapable of commenting on the statement and what could be improved about it, instead they have to attack the character of the person making the statement. Because we should all be judged for the minutia of our social demeanor's. You know instead of the deeper content of their character.
Or in other words can't be helped when someone who either got kicked out of here or left willingly comes back with a new profile. So please just ask questions.

I personally think that such jokes are one of the lowest forms of humor and that so are jokes about the noises and smells our bottoms make. By the way the second one will always be funny, so maybe lowest form of humor isn't so bad. Think it's pretty ironic for someone to assume that one joke a racist makes and wonder if the person jumping on that realizes the irony of how both things are just extremely lazy ways of not really seeing the person in front of you. In other words an overly simplistic and dehumanizing way of looking at other people.
And yes I am trying to make fun of someone who derailed the thread, while maintaining a proper sense of tact or etiquette. But more importantly it's not your fault you asked the type of question a forum like this is designed for and that someone else went somewhere stupid with it.

I am from the UK and can't find any pipes from them over here. Thanks though.
Peterson pipes are all over the UK, UK shops online and SP EU.

You're pretty darn close to one of the Black Swan Shoppes and not all that far from the others.

You have nothing to apologise for, nothing at all.

This Misfit dude joined 5 days ago and I've already seen him picking fights on like every single thread this week. As a proud crotchety contrarian myself, even I am in awe at his ability to draw ire and hand-wringing... lmao
And seems to search out and reply to stuff from a guy shown the door - hmmm . . . . . . .

Anyway, seems a lot of useless and unproductive nonsense - no idea why people enjoy that kind of participation.

Just to honor how this thread went down the toilet, I'll share a "racist" joke. But before I do this, you should know that my mother was a Cohen and my father was a Levite, descendants of the priests and scribes (and the sometimes the gofers) of the Temple of Solomon.

Here goes...

Chaim was a humble and honest man who lived a humble and honest life as a tailor, passing peacefully away in his old age, surrounded his loving family.

He finds himself standing at the foot of a great golden throne, in the presence of G-d, who smiles upon him.

G-d says, "Welcome, Chaim!"

Chaim replies, "Thank you. It's very nice of you."

After a moment, Chaim looks up at G-d and says, "May I ask you a question?"

G-d looks down at Chaim, a look of infinite love, and replies, "Chaim, you have been a humble and honest man and you may ask me any question that you want."

Chaim pauses again, trying to find the words. He asks, "Is it true that the Jews are G-d's chosen people?"

Again, G-d smiles upon Chaim with infinite love and tenderness and replies, "Yes, Chaim, the Jews are my chosen people."

Chaim takes this in, and says, "May I ask another question?"

"Chaim, you have lived a humble and honest life and you may ask any question that you like!"

Chaim nods, and taking a deep breath before he speaks asks, "Would you mind choosing somebody else for a change?"

Peterson are pipes made by lads called Paddy, Seamus and Fergus and depending on when they got paid and how many pints they have had could mean your pipe is made from briar or the toilet brush handle.

I was about to reply then read the response, yikes, oh well still will..

I think you mean Paddy O’ something, Seamus O’ something, and Fergus O’ something, and Flynn and Lynn and you get the point…

I have seen Petersons all over but i can't understand why some companies put such a high price on them. It's like most things i suppose, your buying the brand. In the past i have paid way to much for a branded item when i could/should of bought a cheaper. A friend i mentioned in an earlier post has been a pipe smoker for many years and has Dunhills and Petersons etc, his favourite pipe is one he has almost the longest and wasn't expensive. I think he paid a Pound or 2 though it was a long time ago, maybe 30-40 years ago. says he will probably be buried with it, one thing that does surprise him is the longevity of a non-brand pipe.

That’s the reality. A lot of people on this forum like Rossi. Very inexpensive and hits above its weight.
Some of us have a liking for a specific shape, or a specific brand, or specific periods. People have different preferences when it comes to enjoying pipe smoking.

Spending a bundle on a pipe guarantees you nothing. But if there are certain sought after pipes that you want, you get little choice in the matter.

It’s about briar, not brand, and a “magic” pipe might come from anywhere. One of my very best smokers is a Brebbia that I picked up, used, for $2.

First it was you can’t find them in the UK, now it’s they cost too much. I mentioned Peterson Irish Seconds — 63 euro — I can’t speak to affordable for someone else but that’s a pretty good price. But there are other pipe bargains easily obtainable in the UK. Briar, good drilling - it’s not hard to find a pipe that “performs” and is also whatever reasonable is for price for most.

I also referenced the Black Swan Shoppe which is literally just down the road from you (one of their shops) and they have a good assortment in that range if not just a little less of a variety of pipes.

Any pipe should have good longevity in general given the material - I've got some little no name British pipes that are over 100 years old unsmoked and somewhat smoked and they are in great shape.
