Had my first Pipe since i returned to smoking again. I had some loose tobacco with no label on it and i think it was a bit to moist as it went out a few times, i think i packed it too loose as well as it was quite airy. It's like learning all over again lol. Anyway from what i can remember some of the Dunhill Brands were quite good straight from the tin. I have some early morning pipe due today so will give that a go later. I thought i would ask you guys on here. Remember i am in the UK so only looking for blends/brands available over here. Thanks.

Lots of good stuff available in the UK I think. Some of the more popular blends come from Gawith and Kopp. Have fun exploring

HU blends (from Germany) should be available in the UK. I can personally recommend Zulu, Nyala, Night Owl and White Horses.

I like Virginia/Kentucky blends these days. I think Bell's Three Nuns and Rattray's Hal o' the Wind and Old Gowrie are pretty good and should be available where you are.

Sadly, HU blends are not available in the UK.

Three Nuns is available and still quite a palatable smoke, Rattray's HotW and OG sell out fast after a drop from Germany. St. Bruno is still available over the counter in some supermarkets. Plenty of blends online.

Hi and Thanks for the replies, i probably didn't phrase the question correctly. I will try to keep it short and concise as not to bore you. When you buy Tobacco it is usually moist and in some cases almost wet and you need to dry it out to smoke it. I am asking if there are any brands that are smokeable more or less when you actually open the tin. Tobacco's with a little less moisture in them. I mean when you buy say Rolling Tobacco, it's ready to roll straight away. I think it's a case of me not remembering how much to dry it before packing the pipe or maybe just being lazy lol. I am sure i was able to smoke Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture as soon as i opened it. Hope i make sense this time round.

Wasn't Cornell and Diehl importing some blends to the U.k.? If so they tend to fit the profile of not overly moist straight from the tin.

Yes their are some blends you usually will need to let dry out usually true with aromatic blends, at least here in the U.S I am not to sure about across the pond . I have tried a few blends from England that were gifted to me by a friend over there, but that was many years ago. You will get back into the rhythm of it all it is like riding a bicycle 😂

I find that most blends are stuff and puff, but I'm coarse like that. What I find is that many like to rest a couple of days after opening the tin, particularly the C&D imports; the flavours coalesce although they are smokeable right away. SG Squadron Leader, Skiff Mixture and Commonwealth, you can blast away from first pop.

Most shag cut or ready rubbed blends are fire up and enjoy, like F&T's examples. But Gawith Flakes, for example, need careful management by most people.

I thought Petersons was available there?
I recall finding most of those needed minimal drying.

peterson can be smoked out of the tin, but ive found they do best with the "open tin on monday, close tin. leave tin alone till saturday and have a smoke saturday afternnon" as a minimum.

Humidity where i live has been 60% last few weeks. Leaving a bowl full of rattrays blends on a plate for about 50-60 minutes brings out flavors you wont get otherwise.

There’s nothing that can’t be smoked straight both in terms of age flavour and your question moisture. As far as I know it’s only Gawith that has the reputation of being impossible to light, their flakes. And they’re fine if you shred them ultra fine, finer than other flakes and pack lightly. Typed this before going back to read a few more comments like Bing Bang’s😀, but yes that’s it. STG stuff, C and D, OTC, ribbons all good straight. i don’t think people used to dry at all in the olden days, maybe in the very olden days like 70-100 years ago they did.

Aye. I try and support that company as much as I can. We can’t afford to loose more fine tobacco companies.
They make good tobaccos. Their twists are hard to beat. I really like the aro brown Irish twist.
alot of good blends world wide, some affordable if you decide to skip eating for a week, others affordable just by skipping two fancy coffee drinks.

Supporting companies just because is a useless falacy.
