In the UK, do you see an MD as your primary healthcare provider?
Yes, that's the way it's structured now. Doesn't work, of course, they hide themselves away, especially since covid. Their phone intro, brutally summarised, says "if you're sick, call an ambulance or dial 111" - the 111 wheeze is a pool of doctors who seem to instruct the MDs. Broken.

I'm really sorry that they screwed you up so badly. Much easier, low-impact if caught sooner. Incompetence.

Some time back I mentioned my palate being a bit off and maybe I needed a break. Well, I persisted and it kind of improved then began to go off again. The last three weeks, not nice but appetite in general also gone.

I've been running fevers at night, but I have twice-weekly checkups, all good. BP, blood O², temperature, all fine. I haven't felt "ill", just a bit off until the weekend, when I thought I might need some intervention. Then a couple of senior nurses came round and said "go directly to hospital". Boring, but hey.

As usual, regular stuff all in range, pulse a bit high, nothing obvious. Bloods, a couple of minor indicators... until the CRP (inflammation) results. Normal is 3, 10 is uh-oh, my count 355. So happy days and IV antibiotics out the wazoo.

Hopefully, my rehab into the joys of the pipe can start again in 2 or 3 weeks or so.
Glad you listened to the nurses. Hope you heal up soon. I really in joy your daily posts about your pipes and life.

Worst thing is, this is history repeating, April 2023 all over again. For the sake of a timely blood test, really, and my having no levers to pull. The upside now is, there are main players who look at my old notes and escalate immediately.

Very sorry to hear it. Wishing you a speedy recovery and much greater competence and care in how you're being treated.

This afternoon, doctors round, had an extensive Q&A from the chap. At the end he said, only one more but unconnected question and a smile came to his face - "I hear you smoke a pipe?". Very much approved.
Don't high C-reactive protein numbers indicate your body is fighting something , Bing ? Do they have any idea what ?

There's the rub - they don't know what or where. The MRI scanner was broken, now allegedly fixed so when I get a scan, they'll have a much better idea and we can have a fast track plan. Owing to my history, they'll concentrate on pelvic region.

Win. Dug a soothing tin of Jip out of my bag, had a crafty pinch. Nobody has a clue what snuff is nowadays.
They really haven’t. One of life’s joys is offering up a pinch to a group of loudmouth ‘know it all’ youngsters & witness them crumble & wince with pain as they all snort it back up to their eyeballs! Lol

Very best wishes to you bing bong sir & your fight back to good health!

If you haven’t already tried it, upon your release from the hospital treat yourself to a tin of ‘Bee M’ from Wilson’s of Sharrow. Top drawer stuff!
