I look at Rossi occasionally on SP. The Piccolo and Rubino Antico lines still offer vulcanite stems. The Piccolo pipes are unfiltered. I have my eye on the 8202 and the 8105.
The Notte 8701 sitter had my eye for a long time, but I’d have to find an estate to get vulcanite.
Perfect pipe for an affordable pipe.

I've had decent luck with Comoy Estates lately, I only have one that isn't the best smoker but out of the three I've got they're pretty decent and I haven't paid more than 50 bucks for one of em.

Ropps are good too.

Stanwell gets criminally overlooked ever since their production was moved to Italy, but for your price range, their pipes are hard to beat.

There are a lot of French manufacturers whose pipes are very affordable and well made, e.g. Chacom or Genod.
have a place that sells in america and factgory new pipes, instead of estate pipes that someone else slobbered on?

I have a couple hundred estate pipes( been collecting for 40 years) and about 20 Artisan pipes. To be honest about 90% of them smoke very similarly. Some have a slightly tighter draw, etc. but very few of the pipes I own are poor smokers. For the new pipe smoker I always recommend buying estate pipes and learning some simple restoration techniques. Some of the best pipes I own I have paid between 10 and $20.
A quick story. Recently I bought a group of about 20 estate pipes for about five dollars a piece. I restored most of them and either sold them, gave them to friends or kept a few for my self.
One pipe in the group was a Lucienne. I had never heard of that brand before so I did some research and found out that they are cheap pipes usually made a walnut. No harm… I was just going to throw it out. I decided I would give it a test smoke and if it was OK I keep it for a lawn pipe… One that I would smoke when I worked outside. To my surprise, I found it was a great smoker with an easy draw. It also does not get overly hot and is nice to clench. It is now part of my rotation. I never would've figured that.IMG_2393.jpeg

I make woodwind mouthpieces. I also repair and customize existing ones. Ive shared spit with half the planet for 20 years (yes I clean them first). Im just fine with estate pipes and it allowed me to collect I couldnt or wouldnt afford.

That said...I understand peoples concerns and its hard to get rid of that image if its burned into your brain.

I bought several of the Michel house pipes on ebay last year. I've only smoked two and am very happy with them. There's still some listed now. Check the pictures though if you have something against stingers. (I don't. ) And break them in slowly, it's old briar (NOS.)
