Well, so today the panel of docs arrived asking the usual question and doing the usual tests. They seemed to be optimistic about my release in the coming days and are happy with the progress. Said i was healing up the fastest of the test group thus far, but there are certain counts that are still too low for being out and about without risk. I took that as positive enough news and decided to make a break for it after they left. This was, in part, because my former plot to import tobacco worked out and the order arrived this morning in a most welcome little box. ;)

I've been watching the patterns of nurses and doctors and i know that right after the docs leave in the late morning that i have at least a couple hours or so before a nurse comes around, usually. So i peeked out the door, no one at the intake desk. And my mind filled with the thrilling idea of participating in Meerschaum Monday.

I changed my clothes, pre-loaded 2 meers with tobaccos i've never tried, put on my shoes for the first time in 13 days and decided enough waiting was enough. And, in the famous words of George Thorogood, "...out the door i went!" But not before grabbing a couple cell phone shots of my wares on the windowsill of the hospital "cell." Couldn't deprive y'all of the pretty pictures...

I had both of these stuffed in my pocket with a bic EZ reach and a homemade tamper. A cup of lukewarm green tea in one hand and my cell phone in the other. Had to get a couple secret squirrel pics out front in the garden areas, not to mention, call my mama and confess while out 'n' about. She had a good laugh over the whole affair.

Talk about head on a swivel. Hard to be inconspicuous with a lit pipe in your hand. So i was hoping none of the staff from my floor were leaving or coming to work just then. haha

First up was the Cabbie's in an IMP:

2nd and grand finale was some Brothers In Arms in an SMS:

There was originally a little lizard sleeping on the branch and i was trying to include it in the pic, but he boogied along as soon as i raised the pipe to frame. Ah, well. And as much as it may look like i was hiding in the bushes, there was a perfectly normal non-smoking area bench right behind me, which i used as a respite here and there in between brief walks down the sidewalk. All in all, it's been a great Monday. I think i'll sleep soundly tonight. :)
Great news and great post. Glad for good report.

My brother and I nearly share a birthday, and our joint celebration is coming up. I am enjoying this after work bowl of 2016 triple play in the Peterson system silver spigot rusticated 304 while he, in the background, attempts to patch a blow up kiddie pool. The slip ‘n slide has been tested, the bier steins are in order, and the week is a countdown to party time IMG_7066.jpeg

I hope all goes well for you and I love that you snuck in a smoke at the hospital, great spirit.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs, and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've passed the last quarter of this bowl of year 2014 Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching the Braves-Nats game on Roberto Clemente Day. Tomato the Brave came in to eat. He thanked me afterward, and is just staring at me now. Guess he wants more attention.
