Interested in the low country natural virginia and natural virginia and burley blends.

Tried the virginia and oriental version, but that was unpleasant until i mixed my sample with half and half.

IS it possible my issue was with the oriental component somehow, and that the non oriental versions will be better?

I can’t tell you for certain, as I really enjoy the Low Country Natural VA+Oriental blend, and even use it as the base in some of my home mixes. The Natural VA in comparison is a little plain, and gives off jar notes of strong grass/hay.

I bagged some of the LC NatVA this past week to send to a fellow piper for his experimental blends and it was not as interesting or rich a jar note as that found in Daughters & Ryan’s Windsail Silver, also an inexpensive 100% VA bulk blend.

I think the Low Country blends are less treated than other commercial blends that a lot of us are used to. They are very tobacco forward and need to be smoked slowly to avoid harshness. For myself, I enjoy them

It wasnt harsh in the sense of " i smoked a piece of wet rope I found on the sidewalk, and felt it was a bit harsh on the tongue.."

It would have been about 20 years ago, I was given a drasticly reduced price on some cigars because some had been damaged. And the owner admitted he found "tobacco mold" in some he had smoked.

I smoked one he indicated as having some slight tobacco mold, the taste I got was exactly as the low country natural virginia and oriental. That odd taste, that switched to plain air.

I’ve only smoked the Windsail Silver so I can’t compare across the product line. For $22/lb, you can’t go wrong giving it a try yourself. It comes as dry as can be in the bag (as do all Daughters & Ryan products) but does not need rehydration to smoke well.
