got back into the mac baren aromatic family as a means to say good buy. all recently bought items. tin dates 2022 to 2025.

original choice , 7 seas black, danish mixture modern

Is it any sense that they used a berry flavoring that causes the most intense tongue burn i have come across?

Chasing Embers:

Somehow the "Mac Baren blends cause tongue-bite" mantra seems to me to be almost urban-legend-like. Speaking from personal experience I have never had that problem with any of their blends.
One of the more interesting thoughts I have seen online about mac baren, in perhaps 20 years of searching about mac bite..

is that people either have a wonderful response to it. Or a really bad one. No middle ground.

The packing is loose. I dont normally use a filter in this pipe, but I pack it for the filter every time. basically, loose fill it, push it down to half way, re fill to top and just give enough pressure nothing falls out when i tip the pipe on its side.

I dont think 30-40 minutes of drying time is insufficient for any blend. Other then Captain Black. Yearsa go I had to give up to an hour in humid weather to make it dry enough to light.

The bite and burn only starts once that berry flavor actually comes through as its own entity. In all of them, seas black, original choice, and danish.

I smoked it wednesday morning and the sore it caused on my tongue finally is gone today.
