Mason / canning jars just had a price increase across the board here in the US.

Allowing for (genuine) sales and end-of-line clearances, it would be interesting to see which items have actually come down in price, once you adjust for inflation

I havnt seen any change and I just bought 4 cases of half pint. Some retailers like to price gouge during canning season, which is right now.
You monitoring the whole country? What are the prices you are seeing vs. what they were before and where?
I can order a dozen wide mouth 12 oz. Mason jars on Amazon for only $4 more than I paid for a dozen wide mouth 8 oz. jars 4 years ago.

I can get a 12 pack of regular mouth pint Mason jars for less than $1 a jar. $10.99 at the Farm and Fleet!
Looks to be the same as they've been for a while.
I'm betting that's what the OP is seeing.
It's because it's canning season they are on sale at the hardware and farm goods type retailers around here.
Well, to be clear I was buying imported jars and they went up due to tarrifs so yes it is across the US in this case.
My complaint is the retailer raised the price of US made jars in relation to this.
Then take your complaint to them?
Side-note, EVERY business does this is response to tariffs, and always has done this. Ask any economist, they'll all tell you, tariffs always get passed on to the consumer.
Also, yes, canning jars do get sold in bulk (wtf are you talking about "wish they were sold in bulk"?), and no, jars didn't increase "across the board", just the specific ones you were buying.

Midwest.. Every store from Krogers, Wal-Mart, local farm mill, TSC, ACE and whoever I forgot has mountains of mason jars. Pint wIde mouth with seals and lids seem to average about $1.25. I don't think I have ever seen them for sale as singles always wrapped cases of 12.
Ball and Mason jars are dirt cheap if you know where to look.

I have plenty of empty jars right now, so I haven't bought any in a while, but when I do need to buy some I always do it after canning season. Some stores will raise the price this time of year unfortunately. I can usually by a 12 pack for $8 - $12 depending on what store I'm at, and the size of the jar. From what I've seen the prices have been about the same for several years now.
