Pesse Canoe

I got a pleasant surprise whilst visiting a B&M in a different state this weekend! Found a couple tins of Pesse Canoe Oriental Flake which was a blend I had never heard of. Apparently a Turkish company. Nicely surprised and I am enjoying the oriental forward blend greatly. Izmir I think with slight touch of figs or apricot or something similar. I can’t tell if it’s topped or not but it smokes nicely and it has that tickle or spicy / peppery sensation that I like from oriental leaf. Often I get a slightly sour sensation from orientals too, but either the VA leaf or toppings (if any?) cover it up because I get sweetness and not bitterness from this one.

I would definitely buy it again.

Hadn’t seen that thread before and it doesn’t seem well regarded. I might not have bought it if I had read that, but I’m glad I did. I’m enjoying it but it is an odd blend with some characteristics of an aromatic, although it seems closer to a Dan blend than an American blend to me. YMMV

I was in the meh camp. Not my jive but I know others would appreciate it.

After several days of smoking this I 100% think there’s a topping of some kind, just not in the American style. Seems a bit like a fruity cognac, rather like Esoterica’s cognac flavoring. Still liking it.

Per Jensen is part time blender with Gladora now. Maybe we will get more stuff from them in the future!

I thought I’d expand my horizons and try a ‘new’ blend. Well, since I’m not a fan of mold into the bin it goes. I’ll inform Smoking Pipes, but I’m sticking with my cellar, not a swamp cellar.

I got a tin from them a few months ago. Now im worried for the rest of my cellar.

Great, now I have to go check my open tin and see if it's infected the others in my big jar-

I jarred my tins up as soon as they arrived in May, and just opened the jars earlier this afternoon to share with a friend. No mold whatever on any of the three blends.
