Got an email, noticed they dropped a little early...

I was on the fence about these. I chose a Rua PSB.In my haste to check out, I didn't notice the chamber diameter. 0.42" - kinda ridiculous. There's a silver cap sand blast which I didn't notice earlier. I'll just let it go...

I don't like buying bent Petes sight unseen. Many times in my experience the draft ho!e is on the back wall of the chamber. Then I just send them back. $15 for the opportunity of being upset with what I got and mailing it back...

It was unusual that they dropped early.at about 5.30 there was not a terra cotta left.how many was in there in beginning? One heritage was pretty decent, there were 4 ruas but I do not wanna spent 300+ bucks for one.Oom paul is my favorite shape but already got several mostly older comoys, castello and GBDs and ShaMrock.PoY seems to have very thin walls comparing to older oom pauls i have.I think if you want an oom paul - the Ropp heritage is a lot better deal- thicker walls, nicer sandblast, made from very old briar bowl from the past and i paid like 70$ for it like 2 years ago...also at the most pipe shows you can buy old oom pauls from 40-100$ old comoys,Josts, Petes.I do not like Peterson rustication plus it makes walls even thiner..some sandblasted ones were nice some are horrible...but at the end good thing is that Peterson brings those old shapes back. You guys enjoy

I saw some photos of pipes on another site where the stummels had pits, poor stain, improperly bent stem, and what appeared to be a significant crack…

I’m a fan of the Oom Paul shape, and while this is example is a more sinuous design, I thought it looked pretty good.

I wasn’t totally sold on it at first. But I got the email, went to the site, and there was no queue, and a ton of pipes available. I selected a pipe and quickly checked out so it wouldn’t get bought out from under me.

Peterson has been talking up their quality control in recent years. It baffles me how some of these pipes could’ve made it out the door with the issues I mentioned earlier. They promoted that whole Pete Geek thing over the last few years, now I suppose they figure the Geeks will buy whatever they churn out.

Here’s the Rua 02BB I purchased. It’s a nice looking pipe; I’ll see what I think of it once I have it in hand.
