Just imagine...... a ton of pipe tobacco saved up........I think old Joe Lankford had about 2000 lbs in a trailer outside his house, God bless his soul. I would aim for that.
Me too.Yes, I remember your assessment from earlier this year. At the rate I smoke, 2.5 pounds of Plumcake should get me through all my cold weather cravings for a latakia aromatic. I wasn't lying when I said I'm short on storage space (tiny house!). But yes, it's always never enough.![]()
Oh, and I forgot the non blending tobac’s i already mentioned: enough Match Victorian for the better part of a decadeFrom SPcom recently, or the Sutliff stuff?
I like your moxie, young man.Me too.
Eight years ago my wife and I moved out of the 5 bedroom farmhouse on our property, and into the 2 bedroom caretakers cabin.
My niece had 4 kids at the time and no spouse. She was in nursing school, and needed a big, safe, cheap place to live. She has sinse had 2 more kids and their dad died 2 years ago. So now she has 6 kids, no dad's.
Anyways, the cabin has 3/4 inch plywood floors with a crawlspace under it. When I moved my firearms, ammunition, and pipe tobacco into the spare bedroom.....I realized there was an issue.
So I did the only logical thing.
I tore out the entire floor, and poured 2 feet of concrete, just under the one bedroom. Then I put in 1/4 inch steel on the walls and ceiling, and got a vault door.
Killed about 6 birds with one stone.![]()
P.S. I’ve been spending time with this list on the styles I prefer (and benefit from aging), like VA and Va/Per… I assume if you have more than 2 pounds of something you recommend it! Is it just me or is there little VA in stock? Building my cart now, but need more straight VA. Will do a search for alternatives to SG FVF…<= Guy #50 advocating mass spending if you can. When I started I spent a ton on pipes and tobacco. I was such a newb I went pretty wide on my acquisitions because I didn't know where my pallate would end up. As a result, I have a fair amount of a lot of stuff. Many have seen this, but I have my cellar up until 5 years ago listed here:
My Cellar
I have smoked about a pound off this list and have bought maybe 70-90 lb more since. My situation is unique. I am now making waaay less money, so this will have to last me forever... and it will. I also read the writing on the wall and bought enough for my son to have enough for his lifetime, as well. Heck I may live to see the end of pipe tobacco, he definitely will.
What is your interpretation of way too much?Much, way too much.
1. Sell to my pipe club members. This has been an enlightening thread. I have 10+ years' worth of tobacco at my current smoke rate. I'd be happy to be smoking another 20 or 30 years on this Earth, so I still buy now and again, but I'm not worried about ever running out.
I was doing some math and a lot of the bigger cellars described here would represent well over a hundred years' worth of smoking to me. I was just wondering if any of the members here with huge cellars have a plan for the stuff past any reasonable life expectancy. I saw where one person has a son who smokes, so that makes sense. But again, it was fun and interesting to compare what other people are doing.
When one of my family or friends make an account here and offer hundreds of pounds of tobacco for pennies on the dollar....you'll know im dead. This has been an enlightening thread. Much more as I can smoke the rest of my life. What is your interpretation of way too much?

Someone’s gonna make some EZ1I have about 37 lbs cellared at the moment, covering 106 unique blends. I have reached the point where I am trying to downsize the blends that I don’t smoke as much and focus on the favorites. I still enjoy trying the occasional new blend or new to me at least (I just bought some of the Sun Bear Navy Cask drop) but due to space constraints (and in the interest of a modicum of self restraint) I am trying to keep under 40 lbs total — which should last me about 13 years at my current rate.

Oh man, that sucks. Hoping you regain those senses soon!Around 120 lbs, maybe a little more. I haven't been able to smoke for three months. COVID has left me with no sense of smell and almost no sense of taste, as well as memory loss. So the tobacco is aging, while I pray to regain my sense of smell and be able to smoke again.

I understand. I myself, smoke a pipe once every few minutes at best.I seem to only smoke a pipe once every few weeks, at best.
