My problem with a true bulldog is the continuation of the square shank towards the front often leaves a too thin bowl thickness at the draft hole, and it’s easy to “roast” the bottom on the pipe, often on both sides.
When it bites you in the bumSo a bulldog is something you know when you see it.
Actually you are quite correct. So a bulldog is something you know when you see it.
Looks like the bulldog got loose in the daschund kennel
I think the Peterson Hansom-a stacked bulldog-is a fine lookin' shape.Actually you are quite correct.
My preferred Bulldog shape is having 2 distinct cones bottom to bottom.
I’m not keen on the ones where the “waist” is rounded to give them an “apple-ish” profile
And “tall” Bulldogs - don’t even go there !
I'm down with sandblasted bulldogs having the bead lines excluded but that smooth without bead lines looks wrongBy the same token if you slim it down and take the midriff bulge away an apple would just be a billiard
A few Comoys
2nd from top sans bead lines but indubitably a Bulldog

I would not consider that a bulldog. Those are just bead lines for the sake of bead lines. Without at least some form of inverted taper, it's just a decoration.Tinderbox Exotica. Still a bulldog. Take the bead off though and...I'm not sure what it would be.
