Having learned to "speak" in Elizabethan English dialects in order to perform at the Maine Renaissance Faire, I've noticed that during that period almost every word ending in "ed" was pronounced as it is at the end of 'naked'. It's quite likely that there are some still extant dialects of English which do so as well.

There are just SOOOOO many dialects of the English language, including many in the British Isles themselves.
