I haven't seen a post from you, Woods in a while. I guess it's due to the surgery. I have missed them as they are my injection of cultural enlightenment......

Seriously, sorry you are having to deal with the implants. My son had to have that 20 years ago but it went very well. Hoping the best for you and quick recovery.

Hurry back, we need the culture.....
That is very kind of you, sir.
I’m taking a break because of not being able to smoke (eliminate temptation!), but also as a broader plan to reduce my anti-social media exposure. Just too much BS from low-information, partisan experts. And I really need to clean out my office, update the computer systems, sell off some older Canon digital gear and delve into my film archives. I’ve bought two film scanners, the last models made by Nikon, and 30+ years of images! The office is almost done, I’m waiting on a motherboard and…

I have a whole shelf full of tobacco and pipe books to get rid of!
I’ll offer them up here, at a steep discount, soon.

Really, the office/pipe den got so filled up that I couldn’t move. Now I can swing a dead cat in there.

Anyone want a Canon 5D MKIV? 7D MK II? The 2.8 zoom trio?

Wow, I actually worked for Canon and retired from there about three years ago. Those are some nice cameras you are moving.
REALLY glad that you can now swing that dead cat. Just don't get any fur in your mouth.......

What did you do for Canon? Where? I used to live near the old Jamesburg, NJ facility. That was convenient!
Well, I was in sales and not in the camera division. I was in the printing/scanner/fax division and was with them for 41 years in Nashville, TN. I managed a large contract that we had with the State of Tennessee for printing, copying, etc. I was very fortunate, but it was a rat race, for sure.
I did know a bit about the camera line and that is why I knew of those cameras.

I’m looking at buying one of Canon’s large format photo printers soon, probably a 24”. I need to do a lot more research on printing B&W, but it looks like Canon will be my choice over Epson and HP at this point. Canon has been such a fantastic company to deal with as a professional photographer, their level of service and responsiveness has been unparalleled.

I am so sorry.

And I'm wondering if it's time for me to get all my old tins jarred.
I like having rare and discontinued stuff in original tins, but with this risk, maybe it's not worth it.
Jars are more likely to dry out than sealed tins, so there’s no perfect solution unfortunately…. Although dry tobacco is still very smoke able, not sure very long term tho.

As for the OP, iron is just a mineral doubt a tiny bit of iron dust not inhaled would cause any problem, most is on the tin anyhow. There’s actually iron in all plants anyhow. I’d smoke it unless there was a covered part in dust close to the sidewalls.

Even if it was safe it would have been a mental block that would have prevented me from enjoying it. @woodsroad will report back in a few months and tell us how it turned out after all.
