Rescued a Bat

So, I saw my first bat in the wild ever, but he was hanging upside down between the screen and the glass inside window of our enclosed back porch. I found something long and thin enough to slide between the windows to gently slide him down and out into a large aquarium net I had, quickly spinning out the nearby door where he flew off. The whole time I'm thinking I hope that little sucker doesn't sink his little teeth into me or I'm stuck with rabies shots.

While fly fishing I’ve caught 5 bats and a duck. The bats were light enough they plopped down next to me. On all five I carefully scooped them up and walked to shore releasing them to dry off and fly away.

Bats are crazy valuable as airborne pest control services.

Looked online and discovered that there are 15 species of bats calling Kansas home. Couldn't ID him because he didn't entirely look like any of them. 3-4 inches long and black over the entirety of him.

We have tons of Little Brown Bats around here. They are great mosquito hunters.

Count Dracula---and all others like him---are shape shifters, and bats are one of their favorite forms.

Meaning any bat you encounter might suddenly transmogrify into a pointy-toothed blood-sucking dude wearing a cape.

My brother R&R'd a rundown house with a bat infestation . He became aware of it after finding a live one in the kitchen sink that couldn't get out

Not sure on all species , but the brown ones we have around here can't .......launch ? They have to fall to achieve flight .

Oh I didn’t hang around to watch them fly off or die. There was fishing to be done and drowning them next to me didn’t feel sporting.

We've got big and little brown bats in Kentucky. I love watching them around sunset.
