Hey I just want to thank you for your replies and tips. I smoked some Escudo today, and it was definitely not as hot, yet very tasty.

As others have mentioned, myself included, get zero bite from LNF, or any other Virginia for that matter.
A tingle, yes, but experiences like "Viper", and "burning hell", and "Satan's piss"......I've never experienced that.
And yes, all those are mentioned on TR, as well as one review that said, "No, just no, owww".

One method: get a tin of Mac Baren plumcake. When you have mastered smoking a bowl with out biting you, you should be able to smoke anything.
This matches my experience. Over a year ago, I got a tin of MacB Plumcake, opened and smoked one bowl, then banished it to the back of my cellar drawer to reflect on what it did to my tongue.
It's been a while, I may pull the jar out sometime next week to see if anything has improved (either or both with the tobacco or my technique).
It’s really good. Got to smoke it slower than most. You master smoking that, you have conquered the world!
And in between smokes take a swig of black coffee. Helps reset the pallet.
I've never gotten the much maligned Mac Baren bite but Plumcake is one of the greatest blends they ever produced. No experience with it post Syrian but prior to that it was amazing.
Yeah, it might well be me, I can take that. But at this point in time, I'm well past the experimental stage, if a tobacco refuses to be cooperate, it gets scattered to the wind. I mean there are so many out there to waste time wondering why we don't get on with this tobacco, is it me, is it the tobacco? I don’t know post Syrian, but the current (discontinued blend) I really enjoyed despite the big time bite on the learning curve. I’m not sure of anything in the current market that I could think of that’s close to it. Any recommendations once I smoke the 10 pounds of it in my cellar?
I’m in the same mode. Every once in awhile I pull out something that I didn’t have luck with to try again but I smoke relatively infrequently so a bad bowl is a wasted one for me. Today and yesterday it was Kopp Year of the Dragon. I wanted so much to like this blend. Yesterday had zero flavor and today was better but the tobacco itself is just way too light for my taste. Like you said, smoke what works for you.
After 2014-15 it no longer had Syrian Latakia. I bought up many pound bags of it myself years ago during sales for about $30/pound. Sadly the loss of Sutliff and Mac Baren took all of the similar blends I can think of.

What about Germaine plum cake? I haven’t tried it, but it shares the plumcake in name.
Only in name, nowhere near the same. Esoterica Pembroke is close to the same ballpark though.
Germains Plum Cake is a rare beast, unflavoured black cavendish. Good stuff.
