I really love the flavor PS Luxury Navy Flake but man it smokes hot, I pack it well and sip it when smoked, that being said, are there any VaPers out there that tastes as good and won't bite as much? Thanks.

Many great VaPer blends out there that won’t cause tongue bite if you smoke them slow.
Is it the rum topping you are liking about it?

In my experience most VaPers I've tried will give me tongue bite if I smoke too aggressively. Fortunately for me I've never gotten bad tongue bite with anything, it's only ever been a brief minor annoyance. Using a filter definitely helps in my experience, and drying as others have said

VaPers, really anything with Virginia or black cavendish in it, always bite me. It's a slow thing--it starts as a minor burning sensation on my tongue, and if I smoke a few bowls of it in a row, I get canker sores. My post-smoking glass of ice water does nothing to stop it. I think this is because I have some kind of allergy happening. It doesn't happen with blends that are missing VA. Sadly, that significantly limits the tobaccos available to me, but there are still lots of good choices (cf. my recent gushing over C&D Atlas Balkan in another thread). I can stand a single bowl per day of VA, no more.

Maybe try other blends that are missing Virginia or Perique?

Take a post bowl swig of black coffee. Doesn’t even have to be a hot coffee.
It really helps neutralize your mouth.

A lot of people get tongue bite from virginias, more so from red virginias. It's some acidity thing.

I'm ok with VaPers nowadays, the only one that gave me trouble was some 6 year aged Cabbie's where the perique had turned into a monster. Having a fragile tongue at the time didn't help. I conquered it in the end, then became addicted to Cabbie's. So it goes.

Reading posts online over the years I've learned that tongue bite is just going to happen.
Ive heard every remedy from drying more, to leaving it more moist. MOST pipers report back that nothing helps.
I get minor tongue tingle from some blends, but I just expect it, it's not a big deal. Whisky burns going down, but everyone knows, and nobody cares. :)
Va#1 and LNF are two of my favorites. MacBaren VA#1 is by far the most notorious tongue scorcher in the tobacco world....according to countless reviews on Tobacco Reviews website. But it's my deserted island blend.
I don't know how the deserted island thing got morphed into the desert island thing.
A deserted island might be fun.
A desert island would definitely not be fun.

It's funny. MacBaren virginias, blamed for more fires on tongues than EVs for fires on ships. Then, end of MacBaren, big chorus "but mah virginia!!", mostly from exactly the same people. Not saying you are one of them, Sig, but it was amusing.

Same thing with McClelland. "Yuck I hate ketchup and aromatics!" "$300 per tin of Frog Morton is a bargain!"

I will never run our of VA#1.
I have enough.
But you can still buy it.
I believe its one of the blends that will survive. I'm not sure if the recipe is staying the same though. I'll give it a try someday.
I prefer it with a few years on it.
The topping becomes less, but still present, and the Virginia becomes more....um....Virginia-y.
I also have 5+ pounds of Symphony, which I haven't smoked in over 8 years. I REALLY need to stop buying and start smoking. :)

Most of my LNF is 4 to 5 years old. This blend doesn’t bite my tongue at all, but then again, neither does Bayou Morning (25% perique!). Yes, cube cut it and pack loosely and keep it barely smoldering.

I find Va anything works best smoked slow and dry very dry. Other blends dry helps but I can take or leave it. Va needs to be super dry in my opinion. Bite is weird though.
I made a blend of two blends that never bite me and it gave me bite like I haven't had in years. Didn't smoke it fast or hot but it bit.
My point you'll just have to see but dryer can help. Never tried luxury flake. Although it sounds like it's right up my alley it's never called to me...

For me, the best Vaper is McConnell Scottish Flake. Tasty, and more importantly for you, friendly. It won't bite and has no harsh edges to it. It is perhaps my GOAT blend. I prefer to call the like of PS Luxury Navy Flake a Viper as opposed a Vaper, given its propensity to bite. I dump those treacherous bastards in the long grass where they belong lol.
