I am interested in buying a pipe from the Savinelli Roma series.
I nareowed it down to the 602 and 626 models.
Which one of them is the more quintessential/iconic shape of Savinelli?

I prefer the 602 myself.
When I think of Savenelli I always picture the Bing line and the 920ks shape.
But they have both the 602 and 626 in most of their lines. Both are classic pipe shapes.

Hard to say—the 602 would be considered a Billiard and the 626, an Apple; both shapes would be considered Classic. It comes down to what you prefer most.
Problem is I like then both :D, but would like to buy only one pipe from this series

I know that the 320 author shape is associated with Savinelli.
But unfortunately I am kunda unnoved by it.
The 602 is also one of the signature shapes I think.

I had Bibgs favorite a while ago, but sold it. Can inagine getting one in the future again.

For what it’s worth, here are my two cents: I enjoy a longer smoke; the 602 has a deeper chamber than the 626—that’s a plus for the 602 if we are not factoring in aesthetics.
Thats a good point. I do mostly prefer Italian pipes to be larger...

I like the 626 shape better personally... but shaping is personal preference. For what it's worth, I have a Roma (lucite) in the 315 KS shape (prince). I like modestly bent and I like apple-esque shapes the best.

I don't know that either of those shapes is iconic/quintessentially Savinelli shaping, so just pick whichever shape appeals more to you. I also agree that the 320 is probably their most quintessential shape, but I personally don't find bloated shapes like that appealing (the chonkiest I will go is like a Chacom 871).

I quite like my 626 but the bowl is slightly smaller than what I generally prefer. However, it is mostly used for English blends so it’s fine.

Interesting. Why do you prefer 626 to 602?
Even though 616 is a billiard as well, like the 602...

The 616 and the 626 are more of a 1/2 bent pipe where as the 602 is more 3/4 bent. Plus the 602 seems to have a longer stem where as the 616 and 626 seem to have a bit shorter stem. The 602 just doesn't catch my eye.

I have an Oceano 626 and it is a great pipe. I love the apple shape which is why I chose it.
