Like tasting the milk another guy says is soured, I had to see for myself what happens when you smoke a Virginia blend, 2007 Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey (65% Virginias) in the wrong bowl. Here, I used an E.A. Carey Super Bowl Magic Inch with bent dark brown stem and a 1” pot bowl. Wouldn’t stay lit, even covering the Magic Inch holes, and a delicious tobacco (as aged) was nearly tasteless. So…like the others, most of the rules I’ve tried violating for “fun” seem to be there for a reason. Waddaya know?

Warmed up to nearly 80 today, so Newminster 400 SNF in a Peterson Irish Harp 80s sandblasted bulldog paired with a Moscow mule felt only natural. Also helped take the sting out of a 30 point Scrabble defeat (what the hell can I do when I keep picking E's and I's?) courtesy of wifey. 9.5/10

Bird report: House finch, California scrub-jay, California towhee, Steller's jay, American crow, Western bluebird, Mountain chickadee, Northern flicker, Red-tailed hawk, White-breasted nuthatch, California quail, Violet-green swallow, Anna's hummingbird, Blue-grey gnatcatcher, and Spotted towhee.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice Mother's day weekend!

@ashdigger your boys better get their shit together tonight...and fast!

First smoke of my new Castello billiard. Decided on another first, Ellipsis Flake. The first impression of my unrefined palate is that this tobacco reminds me a lot, in both flavor and tin aroma, of Sunbear. Minus the honey. That's a good thing, as I love Sunbear! Delicious creamy tobacco.

That is a stunning 2 tone! 👍

Finally cleaned up the concrete tools and put the paint supplies away for the day. Happy to be back in the smoking lounge, after some beef patties and flagship cheese, to relax for the last couple hours. Just firing up a bowl of BF #4 in an Ascorti Business KS and getting on with the kickin' back. Small dram of Talisker 18yr on the side.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of Wilke Pickett’s Charge in a post-WW2 straight smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson’s Dublin 3 bulldog with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem.

Currently, I have passed the first third of this bowl of Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite.

Chicago
While hangin' with my Saturday afternoon Zoom buddies, I smoked a bowl of 1989 McClelland No. 24 Virginia in my Cellini (Victory Pipe Craftsmen of Chicago) partially rusticated bulldog.
I sipped the usual Peach/Mango Green Tea with bergs and a splash of Honey Jack as we spoke of many things, of pipes, tobacco, good friends, of cabbages and kings.

Did a little low calorie snacking, and am smoking Wilke Gentry Royal Blend No. 2 in a black sandblast quarter bend undated Briarcraft (Dr. Grabow made) Wimbledon 810 author with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Daisy the Feral Princess greeted me as I walked to the den by laying down in front of me so she'd get some attention. As always, she got her way.
