Here in America we are spoiled for choice. I can get a 1 pound bag of tobacco for $6, or 4.5 quid to you Brits :) , and puff until I'm sick. I don't do that, but I could.
Like @Chasing Embers I have snuff in 15 hours a day.....it's also very cheap.
There is no easy answer for you. Maybe a smaller pipe to stretch the tobacco, maybe a larger pipe so it lasts longer.

Ah lord don't call me a Brit 😂😂 I'm Irish. Living in the harder part of ireland. North. Which funny enough no also comes with added costs because we are no longer considered apart of the EU but are separated by water from England. Cant even get plants delivered here from England but don't get me started on that.

Anyway yeah I actually did get a smaller pipe but it feels like smoking a cigarette lol never happy I suppose.

But damn that is cheap. It's like £22 for 50grams over here.

How about AUD$155 for 50grams in Oz ?

I only smoke on the weekends and when I’m on holidays, so I don’t go through a lot of tobacco.
Usually 2 bowls a day, back to back.
Occasionally I may have a 3rd bowl if the previous 2 smokes were short.

Smoking for me is “me time” - a chance to wind down and relax.
I always smoke whilst seated and not while I am doing something.

I look forward to my pipe time.
But have never craved a smoke.
It’s never about the nicotine

See i figured this is how I want to be. Like the pipe I am smoking is worth it or deserving of my time.

But that seems like an excessive amount of money. What is it with Oz and insane prices on Hobbies? I have/had a Warhammer hobby and I often hear people talking about ozzy prices being extortion in comparison to actually anywhere else in the world.

Well now I know I'm not alone. I fall asleep with fip in too.
I haven't done that, but......
In 2021 I forgot I had a dip in when I entered the funeral home for my mom's funeral. :)
Trying to get to the bathroom while multiple people wanted to talk was fun.

Hi all.

New to the forum, hope this is the right sub forum and proper way of things.

I have been smoking pipes now for going on two years and have enjoyed it for the most part. I would like to ask a question to the general populace, veteran and newbie alike.

I really enjoy smoking a pipe and to quote Tolkien "I enjoy smoking a pipe beyond the point when you enjoy it" and I find this to be my case.

I'm not weathly and I can obviously rake up a hefty tobaccoo bill each week. But I can do a pipe after one another espcially if I have alcohol.

My question is this. How do your limit yourself, how do you "reward" yourself? I tried for a week where I left my pipe and tobaccoo at home while I was at work but it was the only thing I could think of at the time.

The reason I'm asking as I am faced from Tuesday onwards with emotional overtime at work with the good weather and longer days coming in. I don't want to be a prisoner to my pipe which I throughly enjoy. I just don't want to be working for smoking.

So basically how to you balance work, life, social and smoking life all in one. At what rate do you smoke?

Ciaran
Just relax and enjoy the ride, let your conscience be your guide. If you're concerned with the cost, just set a limit.

So is that like 100 bucks US?
Yup !
And @Briar Lee goes on about the thieving US guberment !
He wouldn’t want to migrate to Oz, if he wishes to continue smoking

The tobacco excise tax is based on weight, not value.
So a cheap blend is taxed at the same rate as a premium blend.
There ain’t NO cheap tobacco in Oz.

And growing your own is not an option.
There are very strict and punitive laws against growing tobacco.

I have deleted my post as I don’t wish to make any comments that may be deemed political

I feel for you brother! I'll never complain about tobacco prices in US. We got it made, even if our choices are being reduced.

I don't know. 10 bucks for a pack of Newports or 15 bucks for a pack of Redman chew is pretty high.

And I live where tobacco is cheapest...

Tobacco is cheap to produce... Just because the Aussies are being abused, that doesn't make what's going on here right.
