I’m envious of that trip. I’d love to see KL.
It’s been quite some years since I’ve spent any time in KL
Man, has it changed.
The traffic is even more insane than when I last visited.
The food scene in KL is a mix of old & traditional, fast food chains, and high end dining.
If you do your research, you can eat extremely well and cheaply.
Most shopping malls have food courts, some quite large with extensive variety. And cheap.
They are air-conditioned and comfortable compared to traditional hawker stalls which tend to be very hot during the day.
My 2 mates and I had a very lovely Chinese meal tonight at a restaurant (an easy 10min walk from our hotel) which has been at the same site for 68 years. Total cost for 4 dishes (which we struggled to finish) was MYR 132 (@USD$25)
On the other hand, we had coffee and pastries for morning tea at an extraordinary coffee shop which cost us MYR 180 !
It did have over 100 single origin beans and >100 blends on offer.
And the pastries were very good.
Wine and spirits can be eye-wateringly expensive. Expect a lot of obscure names with high prices.
And the knowledge of the “wine waiters” is fundamental.
But beer is plentiful and cheap.
A very interesting country to visit, full of contrasts and surprises
