It goes on sale April 28, at 6 p..m. EST.
The dark air cured burley and the white burley produce a wealth of earth, wood, nuts, spice, toast, cocoa, sour bitter sharpness, some floralness, sugar, vegetation, and light anise as the lead components. The dry sourish bourbon casings is a little more obvious than the sweet molasses. Overall, their effect on the blend is moderate. The perique offers a fair amount of dried plums, spice, figs and raisins, earth, wood, toast, some tangy sweetness, floralness, and very mild sourness as a supporting player. The fermented red Virginia supplies a little tart and more tangy citrus, grass, sugar, bread, earth, wood, light tangy ripe dark fruit, floralness, and spice as a condiment. The light chocolate topping is mildly applied. The strength and taste levels are filling. The nic-hit is close behind that. Won’t bite or get harsh, but there are a few rough notes. Well balanced with some complexity, this granular cut blend burns cool and clean at an easy rate with a very consistent sweet and dryly sour, nutty, spicy, floral, mildly fruity, rugged, savory, deeply rich flavor that extends to the pleasantly lasting after taste. The room note is a little pungent. Barely dampens the bowl, and requires few, if any, relights. Not an all day smoke, but it is repeatable. I suggest a small to medium bowl for this mixture. Four stars out of four.
