Sir Walter Raleigh in a fabulous smooth Marxman $15 grade Big Boy Chubby Lovat, polished with a dab of coconut oil.

Coconut oil smells wonderful and dries in minutes. So far it’s the best pipe oil I’ve found.

Sir Archibald John Clark Kerr, Lord (later First Baron) Inverchapel’s ravishingly beautiful and shockingly young Chilean aristocratic wife could have bought him Marxman pipes equal to the best London makers for the same $15 as he spent in Idaho in 1946.

Oil aids to color the magnificent blonde pipes of Bob and Helen Marx and Louis Cowan and the Seven Carvers to a deep reddish brown.

The highest and best ancient Algerian briar in time colors to the shade of the 1943 LHS Sivercraft Second on the left. They get zestier , sweeter, and better smoking as they color.

Great Post, and beautiful pipes. Thanks for the coconut oil tip! Just happen to have some around. :)

Still on my quest to find a new Balkan/English blend that delivers as well as some favorites no longer in production. I've three new blends so far. G.L. Pease Horizons was wonderful. G.L. Pease Abingdon is nice but it's not getting close to that "wow" factor. Still haven't tried Mac Baren HH Balkan Blend but will tomorrow. I'm once again setting the trusty Savinelli 320s aside (my go tos for these blend types) and trying Abingdon again in this medium-ish chambered Nording 15. Most interesting pipe, and tobacco, but I especially have to compliment you on this picture. You've got everything right, absolutely nailing it in terms of composition, content, lighting exposure, and especially color balance. The detail in the highlights is especially noteworthy.

I struggle with color balance, hue and saturation on my posted shots especially, because as an avid photographer my setup is tailored for balance strictly for large prints on my Canon Pixma-1 printer, therefore I have to fiddle with each shot I post individually. As I also use a DSLR each time I take a shot. (I dislike cell phones intensely, and don't use them for anything except receiving texts. I've seen the results of using them especially with my current crop of violin and piano students of the last 7 or 8 years, who have about the concentration of a rutabaga.)

Operating on Linux adds to the problems because nothing is set to the current industry standards of Apple or Windows. And as I shoot principally B&W using my DSLR as an exposure meter, that's an individual process anyways. I've done this rant before, and will try not to use it again.

In any case, all twaddle aside, this photo sure caught my eye! Even if you used a cellphone, and I am aware that many avid shutterbugs go this route, your shot is noteworthy. Salut!
Thank you. And yes, that is with an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I abandoned my Nikon’s and never touched them again after I purchased a 13 Pro. I know, it may sound as blasphemy but they really are amazing “machines”.

Last post for a few days. Sad news . . . my little buddy Ricoh is not going to make it through the day. He hasn't eaten for 4 days, and hasn't taken water for three. 23 years old, totally blind and deaf for the past 5 years, and just lying at my feet now, barely breathing. He has displayed more courage than most people I've ever known, and will miss him. No replacement planned either. He's one of a kind. No regrets, either. It's his time.

Going to specialist to schedule hernia operation presently, and leaving for Vanderhoof tomorrow or Thursday, to take in Triduum with a family there who has invited me, interestingly the family that gave me my mutt when he was six years old, and am packing my travel kit now, Ricoh is sleeping peacefully and will probably and mercifully not wake up. Other wonderful event is watching one of my former very beautiful ex-students being Baptised and Confirmed during the Triduum . . . her husband is next, and I'm sure we'll share a few pipefuls (he's one of the scoundrels that got me into the labyrinth . . . . . :ROFLMAO: )

Will continue my series of interesting (to me, anyways) smokes when I return after Easter Sunday. Leaving you with one of those special smokes as of late, a memorable and excellent two hour puff with my best long smoker, my Savinelli Avorio, and one of my favorite (still can't get used to the American spelling but I'll try; "favourite" just looks right lol) cherry aromatics, TobaccoBarn's Bing Cherry. No forgettable drivel today methinks.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed all the cats except for the absent Abner the Eager. Going to watch the Yankees-Tigers game this afternoon, and work on David's estate pipes. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
