Was looking at an estate lot on E-Bay & this was in the description :

"I purchased pipes off eBay that are in good shape. I submerge them in the woods soap for 60 minutes. I wash them out in the sink. I did about 600. No real bit damage all the aluminum works good. Usually when I get them they are bizarrely locked up and filthy "

Anybody know anything about this ? What is Wood's soap ? Recommended ?

In Canada, Woods is a company that makes camping stuff, such as propane burners. Reading your description, I would just avoid this sale/seller altogether.

Poor defenseless pipes...
What did they ever do to him to deserve such treatment? Haha

Yeah I agree though, whenever I hear wood and soap together I think of Murphy's oil soap. Weird stuff. Used it once to "restore" some old woven grass panel inlay in the dining room of a 100 yo house my dad and I remodeled.

Didn't seem to me to actually clean well and left everything with a weird stinky greasy coating. I'm sure it has some legitimate uses but idt a pipe is one of them

That’s either Murphy’s Oil Soap or another brand (if there is one)

He has a good idea, you know?

I'm not sure . Soaking a briar pipe sounds kind of questionable.........

The crappiest Marxman in the history of the world is in the mail to me.

Let’s see how well an hours soak in Murphy’s Oil Soap improves it, you know?

Except that much Murphy’s might equal the $10 cost of the Eye Talyen Marxman.:)

Well , I suppose , since you have 7-800 Marxmans , I guess experimenting on a $10 beater wouldn't hurt . 😁

Here’s a $10 Algerian briar “Custom Made” I just bought.

Normally I’d use Everclear to clean that.

But my wife and my mother both swore by Murphy’s Oil Soap to clean wood.

And so did Wilda Mae Hosterman and my Grandmother.

They couldn’t all have been wrong.:)
